Re: The Hindu milk miracle
Science as a method is in no ways contrary to Christianity nor incompatible. Methodological materialism extrapolated out from science with the assumption that there is no God at work in the universe is not science; it is a worldview and philosophical framework that most definitely is not compatible...

Re: The Hindu milk miracle
That his reasoning is no better than the Pharisees whom he chastises. In any event, the point of this thread isn't to figure out how this phenomenon can fit in the context of a Christian worldview, it is to try to offer a plausible scientific explanation if one can be given. Why do you assume that ...

Re: racist argument for evolution
The claim that white people are more intellectually capable on average (something which we have both scientific and statistical evidence for), is not necessarily "racist". It would be racism to say that they had superior overall human worth. Two questions: 1. What is this evidence? IQ sco...

Re: Hawking and the new Atheists (part of a bigger problem).
[Interesting. I can't speak for all atheists, but yes, I do believe that the world is getting warmer. Can I pin it down to a particular cause? No. Could it be us? Sure. What is discussed at this table you are referring to? I don't really see your point about global warming. Sure. Maybe. You never k...

Re: Hawking and the new Atheists (part of a bigger problem).
Thanks Danny, regardless it does seem to me that if atheists (or at least the group of atheists who want to bring about social change or who try to convince Christians to give up their faith) want to bring about something else other than to make Christians cry and lose their faith. Of course the at...

Re: Hell Question
Hi humblesmurph. I believe hell is extremely, unimaginably bad…. I only posted in this thread because I felt you were being mislead. There are only but so many reasons for people to care about the nature of hell. I just don’t want you to think that, “maybe it is not so bad”. Or that you can take it...

Re: Hell Question
Wow, I'm learning a lot. My buddy tells me that Hell isn't punishment. I realize the nature of Hell isn't really all that important. We know it's awful and that we don't want to go there. I'm just curious. Is he just putting me on, or is this a popular view amongst some Christians?

Re: Hell Question
Revelation 20:14 states that hell(Hades) doesn't last forever. The lake of fire does. Whether the lake of fire is literal, or figurative doesn't really matter, does it? IT'S ETERNAL!!!!! It matters for the sake of the discussion I'm having with him. Side question, the lake of fire lasts forev...

Re: Hell Question
No, he isn't saying that Hell doesn't have fire now, he is saying that when I go to Hell, I won't literally burn in fire. It will be infinitely bad and last for forever, but no flames. Your view that Hell doesn't last forever seems unique. Could you point me in the direction of Scripture that suppor...

Re: Hell Question
Thanks Mr Wheels. Nice looking car by the way. When you say that Hell is "of fire" does that mean that it is made of fire or a fire like thing? I ask because I have a friend who insists that there is no fire in Hell. Is this a common view, or are the two schools of thought you describe the...

Hell Question
Hello all, I have a quick question regarding Hell. What I am sure of is that it is awful beyond comprehension and it lasts forever. My Question is: Is it possible that Hell actually does contain flames? I'm sure it doesn't necessarily have to contain flames. The speech describing Hell needn't be lit...

RickD, Thanks for the clarification. As you know, I still disagree, but I no longer think that your opinion is contradictory.

Re: Meaning and purpose to Atheists...
humbles, I guess we disagree on what the word "force" means. To answer your first question, yes. A law is a command that has a consequence if it is disobeyed. I law against speeding forces people to drive below a certain velocity or else risk punishment. A law against rape forces people t...
