Re: Something I desperately need to know...
A reply to the original idea of wanting to know more about science. Well, one thing is to know the scientific method. Most people who think they know about science do not know the method. A simple way to exdplain the method is "show me". You say that a smaller, lighter rock will fall slowe...

Re: Why not more simple
Also, the "anthropic principle" says that for a universe to support life, it must be exactly like this one, otherwise, it won't support life. I agree with everything you've said Legatus except the above. The anthropic principle does not make any pronouncement as to what type of life or ty...

Re: Chicken or Egg
I'm aware of it how God would want us to be a creation of his hand and not be evolved and I agree with it. The problem is that earlier you were theorizing that God goes with Natural law and that is why it is the only method true to the scriptures - and hence you quoted Romans 1:20 frequently. I am ...

Re: Why not more simple
The world, the Universe, is the way it is because it can't be any other way. I agree with this one, my logic goes like this: Man was made in Gods' image. Therefore, God can do anything man can, only a lot better. Man can make fiction, even science firction, dreaming up universes different than this...

Re: Important question about God's silence and lack of mirac
First, about option 1, you think about God and his promises and feel better, or option 2, God overwhelms you so that you can't help but feel something, this assumes that God wishes to overwhelm anyone. For God to overwhelm, which, being so much larger and more powerfull than us God could easily do, ...

Re: Chicken or Egg
I think for the most part God didn't do anything, but He "inserted" different things at strategic positions to accomplish the result He wanted. Basically, I think macroevolution doesn't work and the evidence doesn't support it. It's not just unlikely, it's largely impossible through natur...

Re: Chicken or Egg
Legatus, I see this as circular reasoning, for example, a primitive ancestor vs. all things created in their own kinds is a lot apart to just fuse it in like this. The question is now not - if evolution happened by random chance - the question becomes, did evolution happen at each step, particularl...

Re: Something I desperately need to know...
And how is it with animals? Do they have free will? The best we can do is to obtain some observation, but be it one way or another it will be impossible to conclude on a universal basis, since we can't know the behavior and make precise judgments on every species that exists and following general p...

Re: Important question about God's silence and lack of mirac
You know come to think of it, is there anywhere in the Bible where God sends His "presence" in order for a follower to feel loved and comforted? Is that even a true promise or thing that God claims to do for His followers? I mean, I hear about this stuff all the time in churches and on Ch...

Re: Chicken or Egg
I think the best explanation is currently OEC, because the fossil evidence (that there is) for supposed macroevolution doesn't agree with DNA. Pretty much like the explanations given on this site. How does the fossil evidence not agree with the DNA? I mean, there are only a few places we even have ...

Re: Chicken or Egg
1. There are strict limits to variation that are never crossed, something breeders of animals or plants are aware of. Whenever variation is pushed to extremes by selective breeding (to get the most milk from cows, sugar from beets, bristles on fruit flies, or any other characteristic), the line bec...

Re: Question about god and science?
One thing, the multiverse doesn't (supposedly) exist inside a universe - as far as I know it's a separate infinite universe which can (again, supposedly and according to Stephen Hawking) randomly create anything at all. But yeah, in the end it all comes down to "scientific" wishful thinki...

Re: Important question about God's silence and lack of mirac
Pertinant quotation "All I know is, when I stop praying, the coincidences stop happening". I don't really know that what happens in some charismatic churches is actually of God, it could be, but in many cases it may simply be self or other hypnotism (televangilist types and such money grub...

Re: Chicken or Egg
I personally don't expect everyone to jump on my "evolution proves God" (or better, BioLogos), it is aftter all, too new an idea (as far as I know, no one else has suggested it, at least not the way I have). I also expect that you will see the word "evolution", and have an emoti...

Re: Revelations Not Foretelling the Future?
BTW, about "revelation not fortelling the future, well, an idea, what if some might believe that because, as the bible says, "there is nothing new under the sun", and what is described in Revelation is simply more of the same, but this time on a worldwide scale, which makes everything...
