Re: Forgive Them Father For The Know Not What They Do
This phrase is in line with with Isaiah 53:12: " He made intercession for transgressors " - praying for those that believe in Him. In other words, these words are for those awoken to see their transgression of rejecting, despising, mocking, beating, putting on trial, bearing false witness...

Forgive Them Father For The Know Not What They Do
Does Luke 23:34 prove Universalism?
Jesus asks His Father to forgive people who do not know He is God. Jesus says that God always answers His prayers.
So does this mean someone who does not know Jesus as God can be saved?

Are Atheists A Necessary Evil?
I was just wondering.....if atheists didn't exist would faith be necessary? If everyone believed would the concept of faith exist? It seems it is necessary for some to perish in order for faith to exist. The Bible says it is impossible to please God without faith so in order for God to be pleased so...

Re: "Don't pray for Japan"
By regular they don't mean constant. Earthquakes happen irregularly and not all that often so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise if theres more earthquakes in one set of 50 years than the 50 years before it. :) I would like to see the history of earthquakes for the past 500 years. That would s...

Re: "Don't pray for Japan"
What I find unusual about this tragedy is how the scientific community continues to distance themselves from any kind of biblical explanations. I was reading on the Internet where they listed the worst earthquakes in the past 100 years. 9 out of 10 of them occurred during the second half of the 20th...

Re: Why Did God Make It So Difficult
For these and many other reasons, I've concluded that either Calvinism is true, or Christianity is false. I have only recently considered Calvinism. It is difficult to imagine God deciding who to save and who not to but Calvinism does answer a lot of questions such as: 1) Why doesn't God just appea...

Why Did God Make It So Difficult
Sometimes I get angry at God for making the Bible so easy to criticize. There are so many verses in the Bible that can be interpreted as God being a "evil" God by destroying cities, ordering the killing of people..etc. Also, verses about drinking poison and not being affected is another on...

Re: What's Wrong With Calvinism?
Then, what is the difference between a believer and non-believer? You are answering the very question you are asking. It is like asking what is the difference one who uses credit cards and one who doesn't. Obvioulsy belief is the difference. It certainly isn't sin. For ALL have sinned. No. What I'm...

Re: What's Wrong With Calvinism?
And likewise, God never stops loving us. Who's "us"? That's exactly what I'm saying. No, God does not love each and every one of us. The gift of salvation is only for those that believe. That's a pretty big claim. Especially with such a heavily quoted verse like John 3:16 being out there....

Re: What's Wrong With Calvinism?
Where do the people who "used" to believe and are now atheists fit? You see, it is hard for me to believe anyone can once believe and then stop believing. It makes no sense. It's like if I was to go into the next room and convince myself this computer I'm working on doesn't exist. It seem...

Re: What's Wrong With Calvinism?
I think what it is saying is that if you call on the name of the Lord, but then reject him later, you are not saved, but if you do not initially call on the name of the Lord, but then chose to do so later and chose to follow the will of the Lord, you are saved. Also, the Bible definitely says that ...

Re: What's Wrong With Calvinism?
What do you mean nothing happened? keep in mind here what you are saying, which is, the bible can't be true. Because the bible does in fact say, that those who call on Him will be saved. So the question must be, just how are you defining salvation here? Please be specific. Would you say someone who...

Re: What's Wrong With Calvinism?
Those who call on the name of the Lord WILL be saved. What do you mean when you say, 'present?' That can't be true. I can't begin to tell you how many people have told me they have done just that and nothing happened. How do you explain it? Wouldn't you think that during all those years in Catholic...
