Re: Struggle with Faith
My grandfather identifies as a Baptist. I suppose at this point in my life, I'm just not sure what I believe. I've read so much about various issues facing modern religion, and I suppose I just don't what to do at this point. I'm certainly feeling lost at this stage.

Re: Jibbers Crabst
Well, as I said, I think it's just uneducated bashing of religion. I found it witty at times, but ultimately stupid. My friend was laughing hysterically through the whole thing as though it was the funniest video ever made. For me, I found it to be utter hogwash, as the definition for 'faith' was ut...

Struggle with Faith
Hey all, I have been struggling recently with my faith. I have found myself in a dark place where I can't stop thinking about death and what that actually means. As it happens, my grandfather suffered a stroke recently. It was a minor one, but my "once invincible" grandfather is showing se...

Jibbers Crabst
Hey everybody, it's been a while since I've been on the forums but it's good to be back! I was shown this video the other day by a militantly anti-theistic friend of mine, and I wanted to hear some other people's opinions on it. From what I can tell, it's just cruel and uneducated bashing of religio...

Sigmund Freud's Future of an Illusion
Hey guys, it's been quite a while since I've posted, but I have found myself in an interesting situation. I am currently a third year college student, and to fulfill a graduation requirement, I signed up for a class on philosophy. Upon arriving day one, the professor writes on the board, "There...

Music. Why do we have it?
So, I have been thinking about this for awhile now, why is it that human beings can produce music? And why does it affect us so much. I am an avid musician, actually studying music in college right now, and I listen to music about 90% of the time. I have noticed that even non-musicians listen to ton...

Pastafarianism
I have not posted on here in a while, good to see things going smoothly. I am sure you have all seen this thing about pastafarians and their mockery of Intelligent Design and I have never seen a thread on here about them, but anyway, what do you all think of this movement?

Law of Identity
An atheist tried to tell me that the law of identity proves that God doesn't exist if He is infinite. I tried to 'see' what he was talking about but to no avail. Has anyone else heard this?

Re: Argument from personal experience- underrated?
This argument is vehemently denied by the atheists I know. They always say how I must be wrong because people of all religions claim to have personal experiences. In most cases, the atheist will say it's only delusion, like you pointed out. That's my take.

Re: Biblical healings versus our body's natural healing
Given my somewhat limited background in anatomy and biology, I'm pretty sure that the body cannot naturally cure leprosy, blindness, etc. That would require, well, a miracle. And as for broken bones, there can be many complications such as the bone not setting and healing incorrectly if at all, infe...

Re: "Natural" Evil
If name-calling and verbal abuse is immoral like Katsuya says, and I would agree with that idea, then most atheists I know are immoral, and they see no problem with it.

Philosophy's place in religion
A rather stubborn atheistic Facebook friend of mine made a post relating to philosophy. He asked, " for all you religious idiots out there, is God infinite?" Nobody posted back so he goes on,"since nobody will answer this, I will answer for you. If no, then God is not omnipotent and d...

Apologetics not evidenceof anything?
In a debate with an atheist, i linked tgis site to him. He immediately dismissed apologetics entirely. It seemed to me like tge only thing he would accept is a literal interpretation of the bible. How can you dismiss apologetics, tgen claim a default victory?
