So, design...by your test-Alexander was made up? No historian made note of him when he was alive. It took five centuries for anyone to write about him. And, what if I could show you several historians who did not write much on Hitler and WWII...could I argue effectively that it did not in fact happ...

Of coarse I knew it was biased. All articles are biased...especially those concerning religion.

I think it is probably best to read the actual chapter in Mere Christianity for yourself rather than accept anyone's summary or paraphrase of it. Also, it is part of the whole book and often it is better to read the chapter in context rather than just on its own. However, I will say that your sugge...

While trying to come across a source concerning Roman Records, I came across this essay: http://www.infidels.org/library/historical/m_m_mangasarian/truth_about_jesus.html It is very well written and clears up the points I have been trying to make. The following is from the essay mentioned above: Let...

there are no records of Jesus in Roman crucifixion records or any other secular records. Uh, yes there are secular sources that mention Jesus. http://members.aol.com/gunnyding/odds/odds.htm Josephus and Tacitus. Both of these sources were not alive during the time of Jesus. I don't see how their ac...

LV_Designs, you seem to be saying that only Christians say they are right...but any claims of truth always bring along the underlying statement that all claims of truth that contradicts your own are wrong. Well ya, I was saying that Christians think they are right. My question was why. Atheists say...

One of the key things for me was the solution God offered for the problem of humankind's "moral guilt". There is an excellent chapter in C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity on this subject, and it was during my reading of this chapter that everything began to take shape for me. I tried to find ...

Do you think this means that Jews and Muslims go to hell, even though they may otherwise be good people according biblical standards. An underlying implication I detect in this question is that Christianity is somehow unfair? I wouldn't call Christianity "unfair" but is fairness equated w...

I added a bit more to my post before you posted, but to respond to a further comment in your reply... The main reason for my question is that so many Christians are certain that their religion is right and all other religions are completely wrong. I wouldn't say this is true. When a Christian claim...

I believe the underlying claim behind your question is invalid. Can you please show us that your underlying premise is valid, that is, a Christian must know all religions in order to be justified that their Christian beliefs are true? Kurieuo Well, a Christian wouldn't have to know about all religi...

satanism is more or less just a philosophy. In most cases there is no belief in supernatural beings. Some of them believe in magic....I really don't know why. I think it's pretty obvious that LaVey founded the Church of Satan in response to issues he didn't like about Christianity. He took it way to...

Christianity was the name assigned by the Romans in Antioch whom were NOT believers. The underlying lesson the bible keeps coming back to is Love each other. John 15:17 This is my command: Love each other. Jesus commanded that we love instead of hate, and what is more he showed us how, but too many...

Part of the certainty comes from considering the claims of other religions and finding them to be wanting. Much of the certainty comes from considering the claims of Christianity and finding them to have a high level of integrity, rationality, consistency, and substantial truth. To believe the clai...

How do you know you are right?

How are you certain that Christianity is right and thousands of other religions are wrong? Have you ever considered other religions?
