Re: Kurzweil's technological singularity
Do you think humans may augment themselves artificially to the point where the line is blurred between man and machine?

Kurzweil's technological singularity
I don't know if any of you are familiar with this, but I became aware of a disturbing (to me at least) idea known by futurist Dr. Ray Kurzweil as "the singularity". Basically, he argues that advances in computers, nanotechnology, and robotics will advance at an alarming rate in the near (2...

Salvation in the OT
I have another theological question that has always intrigued me. I am actually just about finished reading the OT, and it always bugs me to think about the souls of those who came before Jesus. How does God save or deal with those who lived before the saving of all through Christ? I mean, clearly t...

Hey guys! I haven't posted in a while sorry. Cobolev, I was very interested in your comment about living in the PRC. How is it a country of atheism? I have heard of Christianity being banned there, it is true? Sorry off topic. Anyway yes, the best part of life is that this universe, though immense a...

Good points. I always try to appeal to the unbeliever on logical grounds if possible. The problem always ends up being that the person does not understand their spiritual side, not that there is anything illogical about faith in God. Personally (miracles aside) I think prayer still helps us in ways ...

I think that prayer typically provides spiritual strengthening and guidance from God, not necesarily physical. For example, if I want to become physically stronger, I would lift weights and do aerobic exercise. If I wanted to stay mentally sharp, I would devote time to reading textbooks and study. B...

Thank you so much for your detailed post regarding the book. I will continue to talk about absolutes and address her concerns regarding Catholicism (most were simply that it seemed too judgemental) What is the best way to go about refuting the total lack of objective morality that the author present...

Christianity vs. Moral Relativism/Conversations with God
Has anyone ever read the book Conversations with God? Well, anyway I finally "broke the ice" and was able to talk to a good friend of mine about God, and her spiritual experiences. It's one of the first times I have been able to witness to someone and it was great! She told me that she use...

Ha! I like the wolves and sheep argument :) I guess what I'm asking is, and this question has been asked many times on this forum, is this. We as Christians use God as our standard of morality to judge the right from the wrong. However, many athiests will claim to be both godless and moral. If they ...

Secular basis for morality
A common problem that athiests face is that of lack of basis for morality, good, and evil. I was surfing the http://www.Capitalism.org site and found this. (by the way, this site totally trashes all religion as legitimate philosophy): By what standard does one judge the good from the evil? Man's lif...

Thoughts on my Salvation
You know, I have often been thinking of my own personal salvation and had some questions. One of the central points of Christianity has of course always been that of "being born again" and this seems to me to be a sigular event. The problem I have is pinpointing that EXACT moment moment wh...

NY Times Opinion Piece
I recently read an opinion article in the NYTimes written by the chairman of the Chemistry department at UNC. He argues that "intelligent design" and "creationism" (he makes little distinction) have no utility in science. Well, maybe they don't, but I'm having a hard time seeing ...
