Re: The Fall and Free Will

MMS, I haven't studied what other religions teach about the time involved in the creation of the earth. But it seems that I have heard some say that the earth is only a few thousand years old. And some believe the creative days were literally 24 hours long. It does seem that the scientific evidence ...

Re: The Fall and Free Will

Hi MMS, You said, "It's so hard with the interpretation though. What is literal and what is not?" I agree. But sometimes the Bible is forced to say something it doesn't actually say. I've heard some 'accuse' the Bible of saying that the earth was created only about 6,000 years ago. But the...

Hi Gman, Thanks for the referral to the very interesting website dealing with "The Christmas Star" by either John Mosley or Clay Frost. As far as 'star' being able to stop over Jerusalem and then later start up again to end up over Jesus' house in Bethlehem... Perhaps even more interesting...

FFC, If god allowed necromancy he could have surely allowed Astrology. Just in case I'm not the only one who doesn't know what necromancy means, I asked Webster about it. He says... "nec-ro-man-cy, 1. the art claiming to fortell the future by alledged communication with the dead." Don

Hi Bart,
Bart wrote:I'm not totally convinced of your speculative assertion that Satan created the actual light.
Does that mean that you are partially convinced?

Hi Bart, God doesn't limit Himself to the means of communication or revelation in this regard. Dreams are significant at times and used as you note. God has communicated through the casting of lots, a direct angelic messenger etc. Luke's account shows an example of Him communicaiting to the shepherd...

Everyone, Here is something else I find 'interesting.' I've noticed that every time God was directing what was going on He did so by means of a dream. For examples… 1) Verse 2:12: He gave the astrologers a dream so that they knew not to back to Jerusalem. 2) Verse 2:13: He gave Joseph a dream so tha...

John, It's just a difference of opinion and since we're speculating, my speculation is just as plausible as yours. Would you not agree? Well, since the Bible doesn't actually say what I have concluded then I should concede that you are correct in labeling my reasoning as speculating. Don P.S. But I ...

Hi again John, Do you think, given the inspiration and inerrancy, Matthew would have quoted what the Magi said (and implied that the star is Jesus') if the star were actually the work of Satan? It just looks to me that Matthew was simply quoting what the Astrologers said once they arrived in Jerusal...

Hi John,
You wrote:Matthew calls it Jesus' star (the Magi saw 'his star', not just 'a star')
I don't think Matthew called it "his (Jesus) star," did he? Wasn't he just quoting what the astrologers called it?

Bart, Thanks for a great letter of explanation and reasoning. Something I recently thought about (without the Society's help) is some-one's comment (perhaps it was yours, or maybe John) that Satan cannot create anything and therefore he could not have created that 'star light' that the astrologers f...

Hi Bart, I personally think the star may have been the (1) planetary alignment I mentioned which fits the time frame, or it may have been (2) a comet , (3) a nova or (4) many other things which occur in the normal course of the creation. What is your thought about Matthew's statement about how that ...

Hi Fortigurn, Isn't that Interesting how that July, 1985 Watchtower sounded just like me! Also interesting is that I was disfellowshipped the very next month in August of 1985 because I no longer believed that the Watchtower Society is God's organization. Question for everyone on this Forum: What if...

Bart, Satan doesn't have creative power to manufacture such a "star." The following may not be the answer but Paul said that Satan does have the ability to "transform himself into an angel of light ." I haven't thought of that 'star' (or light) as an actual celestial body that Sa...
