Re: Discussion Guidelines

I have a question I feel very confused by the bible. I came here to hopefully gain some understanding of the texts from your point of view. I am not Christian... mostly because I read the bible... There are a lot of disturbing and scary things in it. It is very bloody, graphic, and sexual. When I p...

Re: Laws of an Atheist Utopia

Well, except Sam Harris - and just look at the nonsense that started coming out of his mouth Harris is an idiot who said this "If I could wave a magic wand and get rid of either rape or religion, I would not hesitate to get rid of religion." Wouldn't you want the doctors to check this guy...

Re: Laws of an Atheist Utopia

Btw calling atheism immoral is hardly an insult when atheists have so readily admitted it. Well, except Sam Harris - and just look at the nonsense that started coming out of his mouth (Debate with WLC)...

Re: Laws of an Atheist Utopia

This is what happens when someone brings up OM. They deny it and then the next second they turn around and say you insulted them or other moralities are "primitive" or other such nonsense. You can't have your cake and eat it too!

Re: Homosexuality

Animals do have feelings, but they do not think or feel like humans - note that I am not saying they do not think or feel. Still, homosexuality only applies to humans not by definition (which you clearly brought out), but because humans are the only ones capable of having any kind of sexuality.

Re: Laws of an Atheist Utopia

Yeah, every once in a while someone comes like that and says: "You're all stupid and there's nothing to your religion or arguments and I have wonderful arguments to show you that". But then they forget this is an apologetics site  . Still, that's usually in response to somewhat ar...

Re: Homosexuality

^ I agree with you but just to play the devils advocate, how do you explain homosexuality in monkeys? Guys, I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here. Homosexuality, by definition, only pertains to humans. Look it up in any dictionary. :beat: Webster Definition of HOMOSEXUALITY 1 : the quality or s...

Re: Laws of an Atheist Utopia

Has there been an atheistic system of government (not just secular, atheistic) that hasn't been a colossal failure and a negative force in the world? I can't think of any off the top of my head. Well, to be fair, has there been any Christian government like that? Though I'm not sure there has been ...

Re: SO JUST WHAT WAS GOD DOING IN ETERNITY PAST?

SnowDrops, I can't say whether or not God has created other living beings - I'm agnostic on that. And if so, are they fallen like us? In need of redemption? I'd say if they exist, just like us, they need Jesus. Note that even many angels (Satan, demons) are also fallen creatures. But as for alien l...

Re: SO JUST WHAT WAS GOD DOING IN ETERNITY PAST?

The "Got Questions" response to what was God doing in eternity past references "time" and a "beginning." But these both reference the time and beginning of OUR timeline and OUR universe. It says nothing of what he might have created or what might have existed before He...

Re: Ontological arguments

What about cosmological arguments? Of course, technically, we do need evidence for them - that the universe exists/has a beginning - but they are still considered ontological arguments.

Ontological arguments

http://www.infidels.org/kiosk/article837.html Isn't this strange? Rather than try and disprove them, he just assumes that they have no worth, because they are based on only logic. I think though that in fact he is describing the beauty of ontological arguments: Most arguments need evidence to suppor...

Re: Politics Thread

Well come on everybody!!! Think about it, the answer is OBVIOUS. And the US government has already started doing what needs to be done! If anyone is in severe debt from borrowing money, the clear answer is to procrastinate paying it back and, of course, borrow more money! Right? Am I right? :| Pret...

Re: Objective Morality?

I think Pros is dangerously close to linking the (supposed) lack of Absolute Truth to no certain morality.
