Thank system
So I see that we have a "quick reply" section now on the forum, haven't been here in months btw, but i'm wondering if you guys could implement a "thank system" on the side of every post (where the edit,x, quote buttons are at). I go on a Halo forum often and notice it has a thank...

Re: Atheists are hard to convert
I like this forum because the people are nice and truly care about others. I remember one guy telling a doubter that he would buy him a book, send to his house and all, if he was interested. That's true love beyond yourself. It may seem like a "little thing" just because it's a book, but i...

haven't been on here in a while
Haven't been here in probably like 6 months, just busy with stuff, and trying to rest from philosophy for a few months... it can be frustrating
Anyways, how's the forum going and have any new comers/interesting debates?

Re: Atheist/Evolutionist
What I've always wondered is if God wanted it to mean a long period of time wouldn't He have used another word rather than 'yom,' knowing it would confuse people for the future generations to come. What other word in ancient Hebrew would have been better? If i knew hebrew i'd be able to answer that...

the absence of God?
My friend believes that the black plague and the holocaust are direct proof that God doesn't exist, or if He does, He exists within a deistic form. He says that "the black plague went on for years, and killed 90% of the people that had it, God didn't do anything- It wasn't until science came al...

Re: Do Animals Have Souls?
I think I talked about this in another thread but can't recall where. I believe every living thing has a soul but there are 3 different types of souls: 1) Non-sentient soul like plants, 2) Sentient but not rational souls like all animals, and 3) sentient, rational souls and those are the ones that ...

Re: If there is no God
From my experience...Religion just looks like some kind of way of life like a codec or something like that. Written by scared men in a time where humans had less knowledge of things. For example: say 2000 years ago an earthquake shook the ground. People didn't know what it was and came to the concl...

Re: Technically you can't be an atheist
Well it'd be really hard to be an atheist that believes everything is matter. Atheism is a belief system/concepts. Concepts aren't material. Therefore that atheist can't believe his/her belief system. Or have any knowledge at all considering knowledge is built up upon concepts. Concepts aren't mater...

Re: Why can't the argument go this way?
OM only makes sense in a monotheistic sense. If you study polytheistic religions you quickly learn that the gods are arbitrary, emotional, limited, and replete with faults including moral failures. Basically amplified humans. That was what i was thinking. That, and objective morality only comes fro...

Why can't the argument go this way?
Why can't the argument be If Gods don't exist then objective morality doesn't exist. Objective morality does exist Therefore Gods exist. Why does it have to be one singular God? I know people like WLC are defending one God so of course it'd be one God to him, but what stops the argument from being p...

Re: Good argument against Deism?
Why would an all knowing God create a universe that He didn't care for at all? I'm sure to Him, making a universe is like making a cup of tea to us... but our universe is designed with intelligence that we are barely beginning to understand, yet, this "god" of some sorts did it for no good...

Re: First coming of Jesus
According to historical evidence Christ came at a perfect time, right before a population boom some 30 years or so after his death. That, and a few tyrannical leaders were taken out right before his birth and resurrection. I remember WLC using this in his defense against Hitchens. I even remember re...

I know a girl that is an existentalist.
I happened to meet a girl the other day who is an existentialist. Or so her facebook profile says. I don't want to be up front in person with her, but she's a sweet sweet girl. I kinda know what existentialism means but what kind of worldview can i expect from her? For now we just talk about light t...
