Re: This really bothers me...
You know, those idiots deserve a big thank you. Their comments on YouTube, Yahoo Answers, and Cracked have gotten me into Christian Apologetics and onto this site. After a while, I realized that their comments were not arguments, but illogical insults. After this realization, I stopped becoming off...

Re: Message in Genesis Chapter 5
Interesting. The only thing is, most scholars think that the lineage is interrupted a little - as in, many people are in-between some of those generations when it says "son of" it often means "descendent of", except for those when it's explicit in the text that so-and-so is the s...

Re: Pretty Upset with Dr Phil Today
While I too am Christian and have certain beliefs on homosexuality, my stance is that the bible is clear that the ACTS OF HOMOSEXUALITY are sinful and not that being a homosexual is any more sinful than being a sinful heterosexual. We must be accepting of our fellow sinners. Their sin is no more si...

Re: What Am I to do?
In the recent weeks, I have felt more alone than ever. I have an idea why, but I just can't accept it. For the past 5 years I have done the same thing over and over. Get up, go to school, come home then nothing. It's getting old, and I'm starting to hate my life. I don't want to live anymore, it se...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design
As I argued with someone on Facebook (whom I know) who thought we were "burying our heads in the dirt" by objecting to evolution in schools, I replied with this: If questioning theories is burying our heads in the dirt, we would have gotten nowhere scientifically or philosophically. That s...

Re: Bringing people back to life
Okay, here's something. It seems to depend on dark matter and the velocity - if the velocity increases it will continue to expand. If it slows, it will get to a point where the velocity is zero and may trigger collapse. Either way - we're going to need an intervention here. :P http://www.reasons.org...

Re: Bringing people back to life
Very interesting Callisto, I never thought about it like that. Dan To be fair I didn't think of it like that until I heard the podcast and then went and looked up Revelation. :shower: I heard the podcast earlier in the week though and it occurred to me that physics as we know it would be changed - ...

Re: Alien Life
I've always thought that it is pretty egotistical of us to think that we are the only intelligent life out of all the endless universe! God created "The Heavens", so why do we just assume that he stopped with our measly little planet? He can create anything he wants, so there might be sev...

Re: Bringing people back to life
I think that people are missing one small issue here, that is the universe is not infinite and will eventually die. No matter how hard we try to be immortal it is an impossibility with thermodynamics, well at least our current understanding of it. Dan I heard in one of the podcasts I listen to that...

Yes, it basically comes down to your presuppositions about metaphysics, nature, the nature of nature, about God, all that kind of stuff. Part of the problem I have with many people on both sides of the issue is that they dismiss things based on their worldview without justifying that worldview, in ...

Re: I really love this song
You've got some things to sort out, for sure. Why would you think God doesn't stand by us? Hasn't He promised over and over again of what He has done, and what we will do for us in the future? What such hope is there in atheism? None at all! You needn't feel too despaired by feeling alone, it's nat...

Re: The Beloved Disciple ?
In the Gospel of John only ONE person is called "the disciple whom you love" and that is Lazarus. That the Gospel is attributed to John doesn't mean it was John, son of Zebedee and Brother of James BUT most scholars agree that it was at least ATTRIBUTED to him by the early church fathers....
