Re: An oldy but a goodie..............
I think people might attribute it to Einstein just as a way to gain credibility for it, though the story does have credibility on its own accord.

Re: An oldy but a goodie..............
As far as if Einstein said it, he very possibly could have said it, even though he himself was a deist (he believed in a higher power). He could have at least been playing Devil's advocate, if nothing else. But, there really isn't any proof yet, so we'll see I guess.

Re: The Difference Between Having Morals and Holy Spirit
I've also always wondered what blasphemy against the Holy Spirit entailed. But I'm sure that would probably require its own topic.

The Difference Between Having Morals and Holy Spirit
To clarify, it's obvious that people who aren't Christians behave in a Christian manner in many aspects. I am wondering what makes people with the Holy Spirit different. What exactly does having the Holy Spirit do for us, except baptize us spiritually and mark us as belonging to Christ?

Also, I'm sorry because that last post was most certainly off topic. I will refrain from such posts in the future. I just felt the need to say it.

Dom, I'm not going to attempt to refute any of your points because I am not very skilled when it comes to these kinds of debates. However, does Reactionary's use of English give you any indication that it's not his first language? I certainly don't think he's misunderstanding your language by any me...

Re: Questions from a new Christian
Just from my perspective, I would say no, we are not fighting a losing battle. Christian apologetics has been on the rise for some time, and I think it gives us a lot of ammunition. It seemed to trip your friend up pretty well. Also, his final "rebuttal" wasn't even really a rebuttal at al...

Well, I don't know why he claimed they are "morally superior." By what standard?

Re: Who are we to judge homosexuality/others?
The thing is, lynch, you are taking me as saying it was a one-time event and/or choice. I mean to say that our sexuality, as well as other characteristics, comes about by the way we react to and internalize different things we experience in life, whether they are external or internal experiences. An...

Re: Who are we to judge homosexuality/others?
I believe first of all that God created everyone in the way that He wanted the to be and that He loves all of His creations as they are. First, God DOES love all his creations regardless of what they do, but that doesn't mean he wants people to continue living in sin. And on that note, God didn't c...

Re: Is this the way I'm supposed to feel?
Hey everyone, I feel dumb asking this but: Does anyone remember the article about how we don't always have to feel great about God to love him and worship him? I'm having trouble finding it. I did a few searches as well as perused the boards. If anyone could direct me to it, I would greatly apprecia...

Re: How did purgatory come about?
Two comments on the link above: 1) I was surprised at how few bible verses are given to explain this doctrine, at least in the article. But I realize that the purpose of the article was to show purgatory's roots in the Jewish faith and later in the Christian faith rather than the biblical basis for ...
