Re: Noah's Ark?
This is one story in the Bible that I take some issue with for numerous reasons. The logistics of the story are just too sketchy for my tastes. If anything, I think it falls under the category of Bible stories that I personally think are just extended metaphors. Either that or it was just put in the...

Re: Noah's Ark?
Yeah, but "they" in the case of the Egyptians were thousands of enslaved workers...Noah had what, 4 guys and 4 women? Not quite the same as an enslaved army.

Re: wedding ring
The marriage ring isn't really any big deal, in my opinion. It's traditional, but it's not typically (to my knowledge) a religious item or the like. If you want to wear jewelry, then I don't see any issue with that.

Re: Noah's Ark?
Actually I don't really buy the "they tore it apart and built houses." I might be wrong, but I thought Noah and his family moved down from the mountains, built a vineyard, and repopulated the Earth somehow afterward. Presuming they didn't defy the weather and build a vineyard in the frozen...

But that still has no effect on you. Gay men understand the risks just like someone who smokes. That's not your concern to police their lives. Besides, I doubt most people who want to put a ban on gay people are seriously interested in the health of the gay people they desire to oppress.

Re: Evolution/ID/Creationism in the Classroom
I see that point. But I don't see how not accepting ID is considered "not moving forward" or "not being open to new ideas." If ID isn't scientific and is not a better explanation for the origins of species, then not accepting it is the right thing for scientists to do, right? Sci...

Ummmm...I was talking about "Intelligent Design" on this thread...And that isn't used in any scientific disciplines.

Re: Evolution/ID/Creationism in the Classroom
I agree with most of what he says in the video. My only objection is his assertion that evolution wouldn't stand up to the same criticism that ID has dealt with. Because it has, for about 150 years. Evolution hasn't even been widely accepted for that long...my grandma didn't even learn about it in p...

Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe
I'm not out to disprove God, but I agree with Sandy...just because we don't have all the answers doesn't mean we should insert God into the solutions and call it a day. That is where the science ends. Again, just because 500 years ago we didn't understand how the Earth moved around the sun, that did...

Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe
sandy...thanks for the clarification on Behe's status at Lehigh. Also, the point about "needing more time" is certainly with merit. For instance, some point to gaps in the fossil record, failing to understand that just because we haven't yet uncovered them, it doesn't mean they aren't ther...

Marcus: Of course! I never really got around to discussing my beliefs and worldview. Just understand that I don't mean to offend anyone here...this is not by any means christianity though. Plus, my view of the world and nature is always changing and evolving (so to speak) as I learn more and get exp...

Re: Why do many christians not like homosexuals?
Well, consensual sex is defined as two adults choosing (free of substances or coercion) to engage in a sexual activity. Rape certainly doesn't fall under that, nor does pedophilia. I could also replace that with "when does burning people at the cross..." but that's completely irrelevant to...

Re: ID/Evolution and Michael Behe
You are sorely mistaken. You are just playing the "poor, persecuted religious movement" card that ID enjoys playing. Science is open to criticism. Evolution has been dealing with it for 150 years. But, to this day, more and more evidence in favor of the Theory of Evolution continues to be ...

Re: Why do many christians not like homosexuals?
When does two men or two women having consensual sex when you don't even know that it is happening hurt you?
And how does being gay kill?
