Re: Why do many christians not like homosexuals?

Gman, I totally respect your opinion on the matter. As far as I'm concerned, I don't think anyone has any real business trying to dictate or regulate what one consenting adult does with another (as long is it's all legal). If you disagree with homosexuality, don't have sex with someone of your own g...

Re: If God is all-knowing...

But the issue isn't just that there are warm and fuzzy stories when you look for them, it's how God can justify the horror going on here on earth. Again, my point was that he either created the Earth like this and it's his plan/his doing, or we have total free will and he just lets it happen despite...

Re: 180 Movie review/discussion

For the record, the video itself isn't highly graphic. The images of the holocaust aren't all that bad compared to some I've seen and most of them you may have already seen in high school history. There isn't any sort of abortion images at all. Most of it is just Ray Comfort talking to people with t...

Re: What makes the bible any different than other old storie

No, what I am saying is that, without God revealing truth to us, we cannot justify a knowledge of anything at all. P1: If the human mind can obtain knowledge, the God exists, since God is the precondition of human knowledge. P2: The human mind can obtain knowledge, Conclusion: God Exists. Granted, ...

Re: 180 Movie review/discussion

I don't think my problem is that particular point. You could argue that one. The problem in the analogy is the idea that the reasoning behind the holocaust (unbridled hate and demand for power) is nothing like that behind abortion. I completely disagree with the conspiracy that Planned Parenthood an...

Re: Free thinkers

Well, I never meant to claim that Christianity (or religion or atheism or whatever) and free thinking are mutually exclusive. I think many people make it that way, where they fail to question or they block out everything not pertaining to their religion or philosophy. Actually defining free thinking...

Re: If God is all-knowing...

If all you're going to do is pull out the "My religion/God is just way too awesome/complex/great for you to comprehend so your logic is invalid" argument, then there's really no point in discussing anything, I guess...

Re: What makes the bible any different than other old storie

My response to what you all have said... Fulfillment of prophecy? I'd like to see that. And, if indeed that makes the Bible perfect, why isn't Nostradomisity the ultimate truth? And saying your prophecies are "special" doesn't really hold water either...because everyone says that about the...

Re: If God is all-knowing...

This question is, to me, one of the less-than-perfect parts about Christianity and the Bible. The Bible rather clearly states that God is all-powerful (omnipotent). So, in essence, the Christian God can do anything with regards to space, matter, time, and beyond. He is also all-knowing according to ...

Re: After Christmas death, teen leaves online message behind

Depends on what you mean by "spiritual" in my opinion. If simply having a spirit is what you mean, or something more specific or philosophical. As far as the kid's experience, it's pretty nice. I usually try not to pay too much attention to these stories because I never know what to think ...

Re: 180 Movie review/discussion

That's a laugh Byblos. I seriously hope you don't believe that. It's not morals that stop you from doing that, it's the law. Those doctors and staff would be sued for millions and thrown in jail if they were bribed to let photographers in.

Re: 180 Movie review/discussion

The pictures I'm referring to are the ones I see on billboards, in the demonstrations at my school, in other media...The ones that claim to come from the inside of an abortion clinic or of aborted fetuses are, almost 100% of the time, fake. My rationale being that no one, pro-choice or pro-life, can...

Re: Gay Rights

OK. I think there may have been a misunderstanding. I do not advocate for the government interfering with beliefs, but rather the actions themselves. My problem is the idea that some would use their religion to cover up their acts or try to protect themselves from the law using their beliefs. Again,...

Re: Gay Rights

I'm not saying the government should force religions to change. In fact, I actually don't necessarily agree with catholic orphanages being closed for not giving children to atheists or gay couples. There are other avenues for those potential parents, and there is no law saying an orphanage must give...

Re: 180 Movie review/discussion

jlay, no, I did not. To be honest I had never heard of Ray Comfort before the video, and afterward I did some searching on youtube for him, and obviously that's the first video that comes up. My friends and I have talked about the 180 movie before (my close ones anyway), so I admit their input was i...
