Re: Shroud of Turin
Hey Bibby, ... it would be very interesting to see you "step into the lions den," and see where the debate goes from there. True, you don't learn much with a bunch of fellow travelers as judge and jury cheering on your every statement. I think it would be quite an interesting debate. Bipp...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design
To clarify this point here "researchers have identified certain proteins" that take part in "a three-dimensional coordinate system". We cannot look at one protein and discern the system. This is and will continue to be the problem for the researchers as the researchers themselve...

Re: Climate Science
I'm no meteorologist, but when 97% of the scientific community examines the evidence and agrees that man-made climate change is happening, I'm going to go with them on this one. If 97% of the oncological community said something was causing cancer, I think we'd listen to them So if 97% of theologia...

Re: Shroud of Turin
Hey Bibby, Thanks for the other citations. It's an interesting point of view. I was wondering if you happen to peruse other forums regarding the shroud? This one, for example, has almost 100,000 views and about 2500 comments. http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=226761 I was reading through it a...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design
KBCid, It seems from your last reply, we keep repeating many of the same arguments. I think it would be nice if we could find some common ground. The system you are referring too is rather broad. I looked over the previous citation you gave at the beginning of this thread:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.go...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design
I'm not arguing that the system isn't there. I'm arguing that you are jumping to a conclusion when we are still left with a mystery. Just as Behe had his flagellum. No one was arguing that the flagellum wasn't there, or that it didn't express machine-like characteristics. Even if we didn't know how...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design
This is exactly the issue I have with your "evidence." You are taking a small, specific aspect of biology not completely understood and claiming it as evidence for design. ...The evidence is plainly showing that there is a system of spatiotemporal positional control functioning within all...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design
I have referenced a ton of papers that show a huge variety of the aspects of the system which I am discussing. As others have pointed out, the papers you cited are either of people building things or of authors whose conclusion is completely different than the one you are suggesting. Do you underst...

Re: Shroud of Turin
You mean the email correspondence between antonacci and rogers? I might still have the link somewhere pierson, as its a very old bookmark and I do clean my bookmarks out every 3 to 6 months for personal reasons.Id have to go back and check it out .meanwhile here is a good critique of antonaccis cri...

Re: Shroud of Turin
I'm still looking through the pdf you linked in the previous post, but did you happen to have the citation for this? Using antonacci's work which was debunked easily through his email correspondences with rogers shows that Antonacci isnt qualified as a chemist or textile expert. As far as Mechthild ...

Re: Science is based on?
Confirmation bias is just hard at work over there. That's what I call, the pot calling the kettle black. I've seen a couple of threads where Jac and K mopped the floor (for lack of a better descirption) with a coupl eof our resident atheists. They seem totally unaware that it even happened, and con...

Re: Shroud of Turin
I know that you havent looked at both sides, but thats what im here for buddy ;) . My guess is that your running out of pseudo-skeptical evidence against the shroud, but then again your an atheist, and you dont have much choice other then to keep denying the shroud's authenticity in front of the mo...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design
Also, be careful using statements like "creationist side." The discovery institute tries to be as coy as they can about keeping the identity of the designer a mystery . As I have stated before, there is room for intelligent cause. You CAN test for these things, the problem is with the lac...
