Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design

Gman, do you accept paternity tests as being fairly reliable for determining the unknown parent/s of a child?

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design

I never said the origin of life couldn't be poofed into existence by a designer. That's not what we are discussing. You can believe whatever you want about the origin of life, what we are discussing is evolution and the hypotheses opposing it. Evolution is as much a "philosophy" as chemis...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design

My guess is that Gman is saying that it is not possible to study recent evolution unless one first fully comprehends the origin of life. How close is this to the truth? That would be like saying no one could study the behavior of rivers or mountains unless one knew every detail of the origin of the...

23% of Swedish citizens responded that "they believe there is a god". 53% answered that "they believe there is some sort of spirit or life force". 23% answered that "they do not believe there is any sort of spirit, god, or life force". Taken from Wikipedia. 76% believe...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design

If they are taught together, SO WHAT!? The origin of life is taught as purely hypothetical (I have given you a quote from the text book before, stating just that). There are experiments showing it's possible, but we don't know exactly how and I never claimed otherwise. What does this have to do with...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design

Gman: y#-o Pierson, you said earlier you would identify yourself as a naturalist. I'd like to maybe have a discussion with you to oppose this view, as I think naturalism is an incomplete ontological view. Clearly, much of the Universe operates naturally, but certain aspects are unaccountable by nat...

Re: Evolution and Intelligent Design

Gman... If anyone thinks you have brought up a valid point, I will address it. You still have not read "the point" of this thread on page one. And again, can you direct me to anywhere in this thread where I state I know the answer to the origin of life? You still have not provided any evid...

Re: Laws of an Atheist Utopia

All those stats are wrong, I took a look at census reports and the UK is about 71% and Australia 77.7% in favour of religion. Didn't bother to look at the rest of the places because the report is bogus. *edit* I think also the stats might be deceiving becuase if I was asked if religion is important...

Re: Shroud of Turin

Yes it does say multiple cloth, there is the shroud and the sudarium ( the face cloth), there are your multiple cloths. Dan Interesting. So I looked up the face cloth (Sudarium). What do you know, just like the shroud (and every other religious relic) it didn't hold up to scientific scrutiny. Sudar...

Re: Laws of an Atheist Utopia

Once, I convinced an atheist to say "Oh My Science" instead of "Oh My God." lol... South Park used it as a satire in one of their episodes. I jokingly use it occasionally. Either that or "Oh your God." Satire aside, you do realize there are plenty of "atheis...

There, I presented some of the evidence for the theory of evolution with regards to birds. Your turn Jlay, post the evidence for your side. What you've provided are similarities, commonalities, and artists' renderings based on a priori assumptions. To prove these assertions beyond any reasonable do...
