Re: Historical Villain Whitewashing Game
Leopold II. The missionary would be Henry Morton Stanley, the wilderness would be the Congo, the novel would be Heart of Darkness and the movie would be Apocalypse Now. Not sure what the reference to human rights is, but as a guess the term was probably coined as part of a backlash against the abus...

Benedict Arnold? That's the one. Your turn. I posted one out-of-turn earlier (sorry), so I'll just edit it and post it again: This powerful world leader desperately wanted to reach out and help the poorer people in lesser-deveoped countries. Claiming to support Christianity and abolish the slave tr...

Re: Historical Villain Whitewashing Game
I'm not good at this so it may be no challenge. This man grew up poor in colonial America. Though he didn't go to the best schools, he did well in the military, rising through the ranks. During the Revolutionary War, he proved himself an able leader many times, though political rivals sought to dim...

pat34lee, the rules of this game is that you are supposed to respond to the last post that someone put up, not one put up a long time ago when there are other, newer ones. Considering how this game has had very little traffic, I'm making a new entry: This monarch, desperately wanting to help those h...

Differences in Conservative and Liberal Brains
Here's an interesting study that I just found on Facebook. What do you think? http://2012election.procon.org/view.resource.php?resourceID=004818 Just remember, attacking either ideologies based on this data is considered an ad hominem attack, since you are attacking the person holding the ideology r...

Something tells me that some atheist forum is going to link this to show how "ignorant" the people at God & Science are.

Re: Geographical Map of Atheism
I'm surprised there were so many in Saudi Arabia. Well I have to guess that most of them aren't what you would call openly atheistic. That probably wouldn't be legal or well thought of in Saudi Arabia. But I think you'll find throughout history that ultra-strict theocratic nations tend to breed hea...

Re: Geographical Map of Atheism
I found the map surprising for these reasons: 1. Russia has a low rate of atheism even after 70+ years of state-sponsored atheism under the USSR. 2. Japan shows as an atheist country! Anybody need any more convincing that Buddhism is an atheist faith? 3. Why are there so many atheists in Austria???...

Re: Pro-Life: The Logical Stance Belief or Non-Belief
I completely agree. Making this a religious issue is one of the few reasons the pro-choice crowd is trying to hold on. (It is also an argument that was leveled against the people who tried to abolish slavery.) Showing that this isn't a religious issue is very easy, but a bigger one would be to show ...

Re: You Might Be a Fundamentalist Atheist if...
Well...I'm not sure what an 'evolutionist' is...other than your average, normal academic. Pretty sure the average, blue collar worker cares more about being a 'Fooot-ball-ist' than anything else. :P The term "evolutionist" refers to someone who believes in macroevolution. It only really c...
