Re: MagSolo: What have you learned so far?

So I need to ask this again I guess. What exactly is so great about free will and will we be stripped of free will in heaven or still have it?

Re: Why dont you want your beliefs challenged?

Well I would say that in a lot of cases where old testament scripture is called prophesy that is fulfilled when jesus is born, it does seem pretty clear that the old testament scripture was not actually referring to Jesus. Also why is Jesus never spoken of using the actual name Jesus anywhere in th...

Re: Why dont you want your beliefs challenged?

This is a question more for mods really. Ive seen it written in the rules that this is not a place for debate or for those who have strongly made up their mind that god doesnt exist. What is the purpose of such rules? It seems to be an admission that its very difficult to defend your beliefs so ins...

Re: Why dont you want your beliefs challenged?

Here two examples: What makes you think Christ existed? *believer then goes into detail as to why* Well, I don't think the bible is a valid source because I think it is bias... *believer goes into detail about the mentioning of Christ outside the NT* Well, I see your view, not sure I agree 100%, bu...

Re: Problem of evil

lover I would say that if God were to rebuke me for questioning how he can allow evil to exist and persist then I would be very happy because then at least I would have evidence that he exist and then I would have faith that he said some good reason for allowing evil to persist. Currently though I ...

Re: Problem of evil

Well since we are talking about a HUMAN I can most certainly judge his act to be good or bad under the context of what I know of humans. If a human saw an act that is typically viewed by humans as wrong and could stop it and did not stop it, I would say that he was not good by human standards. Yes....

MAGSolo wrote: . In response to your question, yes, I think God either does not exist or is either not good or not all powerful because he does nothing about human suffering on a large or small scale. That's interesting MAG. "He does nothing about human suffering on a large or small scale"...

Re: MagSolo: What have you learned so far?

So I came here during an especially strong point of the collapse of my faith. A lot of thoughts came to me during this period so I came here to pose some of these thoughts and questions and to see if any other christians had struggled with these ideas and if so, how they reconciled them. I cant real...

Re: Problem of evil

God could very easily just kill anyone with serious intentions to harm someone else the moment they were about to do it. :shakehead: Yeah, that is a heck of a statement... God had no problem with having entire nations wiped out on several occassions down to children and infants because their societ...

Re: Problem of evil

MAGSolo wrote: That question makes absolutely no sense. I think its pretty easy to know if something is objectively evil. Would you want that deed to happen to you? Would you ever want to be raped, murdered, robbed, or tortured? Actually, those that enjoy sadism and masochism would answer, "ye...

Re: Problem of evil

I think it is clear that MAGSolo doesn't view the argument for free will as a valid one. its not a valid argument. Humans having free will does not mean that God has to just let them do whatever they want. God could very easily just kill anyone with serious intentions to harm someone else the momen...

Re: Problem of evil

So MAGSolo, A God who is good, and omniscient and all-powerful would not allow evil. So this all-knowing God would know whatever was going to happen before it happened, correct? So in your view, an all-powerful, all-knowing God should prevent any evil, or pain from happening before it actually happ...

Re: Problem of evil

A good god would not allow evil to persist. Its really that simple. If you had a policeman that saw a woman being raped and then murdered and just sat by and watched and did nothing to stop the rapist, under what circumstances would you consider that officer a good person? Do you believe that peopl...
