Re: Jesus was literally God's son?

According to evangelicals like yourself, no. But most Christians are not evangelicals. And your evidence of this is? There are 2.1-2.2 billion Christians in the world. The majority are Catholics and according to the online encyclopedia: The World Evangelical Alliance is "a network of churches ...

Re: Why Did The Creator Choose the Jews?

I am not sure it this was the main subject of this was ever determined. It looks like the dicussion took a different direction. But.... Why Did The Creator Choose the Jews?..... 1 Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak ...

Re: Confusion

If someone claims to be a Christian but is unrepentantly sinning, does 1 Corinthians 5:11 still apply today? Yes, First it would be best to verify why they think that they are a Christian. Make sure they know and beleive the Gospel. If they do believe, then you should confront them on there sin. Fi...

Re: believing in Christ

YLTYLT, your exegesis of 1 Corinthians 3:15 seems to be more accurate than I often see, in that it does seem to pertain specifically to works on behalf of the church and not as an express support of unconditional eternal security. Thank you for your post. Daniel, Thank you for your encouraging word...

Re: believing in Christ

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. It cannot be both Grace and works. They do not mix. Eph 2:8,9 Ye are saved (justified) by grace through faith.....Faith is that...

Re: The Most Important Rule??

I agree with you, however I'd like some clarity on something. Are you saying the letter of the law is irrelevant to keep? Is there not a manner in which to endeavor to keep God's law or is it always "irrelevant" being that we are not saved by the law? . . It IS irrelevant to our justifica...

Re: The Most Important Rule??

I have absolutely no doub that humans can, and inevitably do evil at some point, but Ican't see how that makes us evil.It makes us as a species selfish, arrogant beyond belief and rather stupid but not fundamentally evil.God created us right? Why would God create evil?? and if Original sin has alre...

Re: God and Omniscience??

hmm i dont know if im sure if i wnna believe a faith that claims exclusivity... it seems so inhuman and unethical to me We should claim exclusivity in the things that are essential. But grace in the non essential. The essential being the Gospel: how we get saved - Only by grace through faith in Chr...

Re: The Most Important Rule??

That works if one is trying to justify ones own sins.but what if I consider a sin to be not sinful but have NEVER done it? isnt that being objective? because I believe in the basic goodness of all humanity (if God created us we cant be evil can we) I see sins as less important then the good we do.E...

Re: The Most Important Rule??

These verses below indicate that we should not judge those that are NOT saved, but possibly only those that are saved. 1 Corinthians 5 3For I, on my part, though (E)absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present. 4(F)In the name of o...

Re: Am I saved?

This story has always been touching to me:

Billiard parlor evangel

But maybe it is because I used to spend a lot of time in the pool hall. But it is still a great story. It gives some simple but logical evidence for the existence of God, and the need for a Saviour. (as well as using scripture.)

Re: Evidence for a Young Sun

I always have problems with assumptions. The article is making assumptions that our standard model of a star is accurate.

"The standard model of the sun assumes.... "

It may very well not be accurate.

Re: The Most Important Rule??

When you watch you neighbor to doing something that is going to harm him and say nothing, How can this be loving toward your neighbor? But I think it is important that if we do point out something that we see a person doing, that we do it with humility and be as completely transparent as possible. M...

Re: Use of the word/term "witness"?

Yes definitely we need to teach the person not just say the words. Teaching is transference of truth. If truth has not been transferred then teaching is not taking place. But I also think the Holy spirit can take our most inept communicaiton skills and convict the heart of someone that wants to learn.
