I think this level of complete faith will be are final state in out glorified bodies. But I do not think this is required for salvation. If married people were as faithful to there spouse as Christians were to God, I think even more people would be getting divorced. All Christians sin every day, are...

FFC, I and the author (I think) would agree with all that you said about the Trinity. But the real question if about the meaning of the phrase "the Son Himself will also be subject to Him" in that verse. And the idea that it means to rank under. I have heard some speak of this as an admini...

Well, its from a study Bible that has not yet been published. They're still working on all the typos, and other small errors. It is fully comprehensive, with cross references, red letter, KJV, comentary notes. And it highlights in red each reference to Christ, in Blue each reference to the Father an...

1 Corinthians 15:28

And when all things shall be subdued unto HIM, then shall the SON also himself be subject unto HIM that put all things under him, that God may be all in all. I recently read this commentary on this verse. Can I get some opinions on it. Make sure you read all of it. This word (subject) is a Greek wor...

Along those same lines: What relationship does "having faith" have to "being faithful". I realize this can be a very touchy subject, I just recently started thinking about this and I am not sure what to think. Definitely, "Being faithful" would mean to honor your commit...

BW and Jac thank you both. for the compliment and the information It good to know this, because the singles pastor at my church is a heavy Calvinist. I do not know if he would be considered hyper-calvinist though. He might be; I just don't know. Although I do know he believes in spreading the Gospel...

Here is some interesting info on the subject. At least something to think about concerning Mark 16:17 where it discusses speaking in tongues as well as faith healing. (I had the below part quoted, but the text seems so small I decided not to) A sign gift is just that - it is a sign! Question is: Who...

Thank you, That helps a lot. I was wondering this in reference to John 3:17, because I see that the word saved is in the subjunctive. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. I know that Calvinist claim that the use of the word &q...

Greek Subjunctive ??

I was trying to understand the translation Greek subjunctive case. All I have read is that it means there is some degree of uncertainty. Is there a way to determine outside of context objectively or in comparison to something else how much uncertainty the subjunctive case would translate to. For ins...

I have also heard that ος with a line over the top of the word was an equivalent for θεος. And that some scribes may have inadvertently left the Line off or even over a period of time the line may have faded.

Does this sound familiar to any of you Greek scholars out there?

And PL, I understand what your position on the Gospel but I do not agree with it. And I especially do not agree with trying to explain predestination to someone who may not have a complete belief or understanding of the Gospel. Thats one of the reasons I reject the Calvinist doctrine. If I had heard...

Emuse, Here is something interesting to consider: When the Ten Commandments were given, there was no commandment against atheism, only against polytheism (i.e., the worship of many gods). Before the rise of Ionian science by Thales of Miletus of Greece around 600 B.C., mythology and theology control...

Jac do you know where I can find some of Calvins later writings (post-Trent?). I understand that he changed some of his views later in life. Is this correct?
