You describe the gospel as the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Christ. I note Baptists, JWs, Mormons and Catholics all hold to these things...are they all saved? Do all of those faiths have an equal likelihood of "producing" saved believers within their adherents? What cognitive level m...

ttoews: I see where you are coming from but..... If saving faith must result in good works, how much good works must it result in? How do you know when you have done enough good works? Or even if the works you do at all are even good. You may think their good but your motive may have been selfish. H...

Thanks Jac , But you see my concern? If these verses are talking about salvation then the word repent can only mean the changing if the mind and not a change of action or else that would be a works salvation, correct? But it seems to me that at least some of these verses are talking about salvation ...

Thank you Jac,

It seems to me that most churches ( at least the ones I have attended) do not teach this doctrine or do not emphasize it very much. Why might that be the case? It seems vitally important.

Inherit the Kingdom of God - Rewards doctrine???

Does the phrase "Inherit the Kingdom of God" refer to salvation or rewards? Because it says in Galatians, Revelation and other places that murderers, idolaters, fornicators, Liars, etc.... will not "inherit the Kingdom of God" It seems to me that this list would include everyone....

2 Tim 2:10-13 seems to show an indication that although one does not continue to believe they are still saved. Youngs literal translation has an interesting take on 2 Tim 2:10-13. 10because of this all things do I endure, because of the choice ones, that they also salvation may obtain that [is] in C...

Wing, Do you agree with Jac's rejection of "Total Depravity". I am not sure but I think you may each define it a little differently - But still come to the same conclusions Jac wrote Total Depravity - While we affirm that man is both dead in his sins and naturally hostile to God, we reject...

Jac, I would think you would be more inclined to believe that the word repent has a the of "change of mind". Because if it meant that we had to change our actions - these verses would indicate a works salvation? Lk 5:31,32 Lk 13:1-5 Mt 4:13-17 & 11:20-24 Mk 1:15 Acts 3:12-19 This quote...

I am no expert, But... It does not sound like your view of the Trinity is incorrect. As long as your view is that all 3 are infinite as well, and that all 3 are God, and that each one is God. (confusing .. I know but infinity cannot be increased infinity + infinity + infinity = infinity) It sounds t...

I agree that repentance should cause us to change our lives. But there may be some aspect of our lives that our sinful nature may be unwilling to give up. And when we do not give it up we will suffer a discipline from God to try to get us to change. If we persistently still continue not to change bu...

I guess the question should be what does it mean to REPENT. In my understanding it means to "change ones mind". I think this is a close to literal translation from the greek. If this is the case then repenting is always the result of salvation. But repenting does not necessarily change one...

Here is an interesting thought about the Trinity: It was earlier written that the trinity is like 1x1x1 = 1. I like to look at it as infinity + infinity + infinity = infinity. God is Infinite. Jesus can be less that the Father and still be infinite. infinity - 5 = infinity . Nothing scriptual of cou...

If you believe in the Gap theory, the earth could still be millions of years old. But Man would only be about 6000 years old.

Any thoughs on this?

(Gap theory - that the period of time between Gen1:1 and Gen 1:2 cannot be determine and could be millions of years.)

CP, Thank you so much on the Info about Eph 2. I expected this was the case but I am just getting started learning how to use lexicons, and concordances so I can understand the deeper meanings of the Greek texts. It is truly exciting when greater a understanding of the scriptures is discovered. and ...
