Re: Trinity – What is it?
DeuT 6:4 "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one ! This word (one) comes from the Hebrew word “'echad” and can mean, “compound unity.” Sadly, some religious movements have tried to use this Scripture to teach their “oneness” movement. However, this verse could have easily been ...

Re: Salvation
zeppmeister, I think the use of the word church can be misleading. You are correct that "The Church" is the Body of Chirst. But the word "church" can also be used to describe a local subset of a body of believers of any faith (regardless of if their faith may or may not be flawed...

Re: The Evidence For Jesus
Here are more details about the archaeology: I normally do not like to do just a big copy and paste, but I think this is interesting info. But just like anything else you read in any forum, aside from the facts of the archaeological finds, this is all just the opinion of men. But if these are accura...

Re: The Evidence For Jesus
I checked with the author that I quoted from and his explanation was that the oldest " written " archaeological find was the The Larsa Weld Prism (dated c. 2170 B.C.) The key to the 2200 B.C. date was if it was written or not. All the finds dated prior to 2200 B.C. did not have a written l...

Re: The Evidence For Jesus
But here is another historical and archaeological source: ABOUT THE BIBLE AND WORLD HISTORY - World history would be hard to write were it not for the Bible and/or archaeology. Though humanists hate to admit it, historians have nowhere else to turn for written historical information before the year...

Re: The Evidence For Jesus
I think in order to get to these compelling arguments we first have to determine what truth is and if scripture holds up to it. The atheist especially needs to know this before he can even enter a conversation with you when you start using scripture. I understand why someone might think this way. B...

Re: I have a question of fairness and salvation, does everyone g
I regard to Pierac verses and questions: All are forgiven. But not all accept that they are forgiven. If I forgive someone that has done something wrong to me but they deny that what they did was wrong, even though they know deep in their heart that it was, then although I have forgiven them, forgi...

Re: The Evidence For Jesus
Hi Jad, I think apologetics for the reasoning behind why we believe are a great study. I think these things help to increase our faith. But most significantly: "Faith comes by Hearing, And Hearing by the Word of God." But it is doubtful that anyone would be convinced by them. It is very un...

Re: More Trinity stuff
Does it really matter when "before" was. Of course it does. You read it as saying 'In heaven before he was born'. Is he not referring to ascending to the Father in Heaven? If so, he was once there before. If he was there before did this happen during the Life of Jesus? Or did it happen be...

Re: Philippians 1:18
Thats interesting. So a person does not have to be a Christian to share the gospel that could result in someone accepting the gift of salvation? Makes sense, I think.... Because "faith comes by hearing hearing through the word of God." I know there are a lot of people out there that have v...

Preexistence: John 6:61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, "Do you take offense at this? 62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? If Jesus was only a man, where did he ascend to that he was once ther...

Fortigurn , I tried to find you post where you answered my question, but I do not see it. Not only did you read it, but you quoted it. I've shown you. All you did was to tell me to read your previous post. I did not know if you meant the immediately previous post or some other previous post. I also...

Trust: Ephesians 1 12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earn...
