Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

James 5:20 is additional proof that Christians can positively participate in the salvation of others, re-enforcing what Jude 1:23 says.

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

RickD, yes, what Jude is saying, or seems to say is amazing. Jude is literally saying the "weak in faith" can or may lose their salvation. "Weak in faith" may be a gross understatement for more serious sins. Yes, Jude is saying the "strong in faith," probably the more l...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

Jude 1:22,23: "And on some have compassion, making a distinction; 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire ......." (NKJV) According to internet commentaries the Greek here is a little murky about exactly who Jude is referring to that should be "pulled out of the fir...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

See what I mean? Looks like no one here, so far, will even "touch" Jude 1:22,23. Jude's entire epistle was initially addressed only to fellow Christians , not the unconverted, general public. Kurieuo, now you should know that you can't really say I think no one will be saved. The Bible say...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

RickD, let me put it another way. It seems that some people like using one or several verses as valid proof of a certain interpretation, and those people assume (quite understandably) that those verses are complete as far as God's instructions for salvation are concerned. "Here a little, there ...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

KBCid, most definitely, do not be intimidated by anyone here. You're doing great, keep up the good work. Keep asking those valid questions, concerning certain verses about obedience, that need to be asked and answered. You are like a light in a dark forest. You acknowledge what your eyes see in the ...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

Matthew 7:23: "....... I NEVER EVER knew you: depart from Me, you who violate the torah !" --- exeGeses Companion Bible. I hate to say it and don't want to say it, but that verse almost shouts that salvation is not just a little bit, but is extremely dependent on obedience . That is so sim...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

Gman, Revelation 20:5,11,12: "...... 12 ..... and the dead were judged ....... by the things which were written in the books." The Greek for "books" refers to the books of the Bible. "Things" seemingly would be laws in the Bible. Verse 5's "This is the first resurr...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

What we should be obeying? Well, it's easy to know what we should not be obeying, which are the offerings and sacrifices and Levitical priesthood, abolished in the book of Hebrews, and circumcision annulled in the book of Acts. People resurrected in the second resurrection will be judged (translatio...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

If I am wrong about law keeping, I feel quite confident that I will still be saved since over-righteousness is not sinful. So I win, either way. That's what I want, security. Eternal life with Jesus is far too valuable to "blow."

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

Check the Greek, check the Greek and their definitions before you use a controversial verse to back up your position. You just might be surprised at what you find. Although the vast majority of translators are overwhelmingly accurate, it has been occasionally well proven that they sometimes do make ...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

Sam1995, is there not a verse in the Bible commanding us to live by every word in the Bible (and also to believe EVERY WORD in the Bible)? Are you silently telling me that you DO NOT BELIEVE every word in the Bible? If you do believe the entire Bible, then you seem to have forgotten what Paul admitt...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

Kurieuo, yes, I feel confident that I will be "saved." If I decided to later, before I die, totally abandon Christianity and "fall away from it," and then maybe become a Muslim, for example, I believe I would then lose salvation and not be saved. I do not consider myself a "...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

1 Peter 4:17,18: "For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who DO NOT OBEY the gospel of God? 18 Now if the righteous one is SCARCELY SAVED , where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?" --- NKJV Since ...

Re: Are we still required to follow Mosaic law?

"Who can be saved?" is a great question. Since we can assume that God is far more than quite decent, of course, it would seem that an 8 month old child who dies prematurely at 8 months of age will have a fair chance at salvation some time again in the future. Similarly, if a Christian cong...
