I am reading "The Case For Chist" and it refers to Jesus having a brother called "James". Is this true? If so how many other brothers and sisters did Jesus have?
This bring me to another question though. James seems like a rather unusual Jewish name, so does Mathew, Mark , Luke and John (I would have expected names like http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0197619.html), . Are these their real names? I admit that I don't know the bible that well but were all these people Roman? or are these there "second" names like many Chinese people have, to make it easier for westerns to refer to them?

Re: How many brothers and sisters did Jesus have?
FYI: The word for 'brother' in Greek is the same one used for 'cousin'.Gar wrote:I am reading "The Case For Chist" and it refers to Jesus having a brother called "James". Is this true? If so how many other brothers and sisters did Jesus have?

Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
