Another day another lesson learnt.

Happy Rosh Hashanah to you too
1Tim1:15-17
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.Amen.

Happy Rosh Hashanah
It would be a blessing if they missed the cairns and got lost on the way back. Or if
the Thing on the ice got them tonight.

I could only turn and stare in horror at the chief surgeon.
Death by starvation is a terrible thing, Goodsir, continued Stanley.
And with that we went below to the flame-flickering Darkness of the lower deck
and to a cold almost the equal of the Dante-esque Ninth Circle Arctic Night
without.

Yesterday I and the family had Rosh Hashanah dinner with my closest friend and his family who are Jewish. It was so funny actually because I was a little late and as I walk in the restaurant, who is sitting at a table right next to us? A bunch of nuns (in habits and all). And I'm thinking to myself here I am a nice Catholic boy celebrating a Jewish holiday, great. It turns out they also were there with Jewish friends doing exactly the same thing. Ooh, dodged a bullet there  .
Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

I just did it off the cliffs in California with my handy shofar I got in Jerusalem at 8:20 am.. SHALOM!

My timing was off however.. I got the date a day late since the new moon actually was on the 29th 6:20 pm Jerusalem time. I'll do better next year. ;)

The trick here is this... You have to time the new year in accordance with the new moon in Jerusalem. When the first sliver of the moon is seen in Jerusalem, that marks the beginning of the new Year.

Leviticus 23:24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.

Don't worry, I'll get it right next year. :P
