According to Genesis, God created Man in His Image:
"Let us make Man in our likeness"...
But according to many it was MAN that created God in His Image.
And perhaps they may be right.
While I certainly don't agree that IF there is a God, we created Him in Our Image but Ido agree that, as humans, we created our UNDERSTANDING of God in Our Image.
That is why we give God the qualities we posses:
He gets angry, He is jealous, He is vengeful, etc, etc
I don't think it is possible for Us to understand God OUSIDE of what we know of ourselves so yes, we "imprint" ourselves unto God.
When we fight and when, God is with US !!
When we fight and lose, He is angry with Us ( or else we would have won of course).
Since, in our view, God is all powerful then IF He allows certain things then He must, like WE WOULD, condone them, right?
I mean, doesn't that make sense ( for us)?
We search for God ( when we do) and we want to find US, the God WE want, the God WE THINK MUST be and when we don't find THAT God, then NO GOD exists, how can he?
If God isn't like what we think he MUST be, then how can God exist?
He must be like us, think like us, feel like us, want and need and look at things like US.
How can he not be like Us?
So, yes, it is true, we do create God in our image.
What other image CAN we create Him in?

Paul, that's just circulatroy,
Yes, only because we are already created in his image, we expect a reflection but we are the reflection, now tainted. But the core is the same. We are no more projecting a God, than a child would project his parents, but the only reason to do that is because they ARE HIS PARENTS.So, yes, it is true, we do create God in our image.
It would be a blessing if they missed the cairns and got lost on the way back. Or if
the Thing on the ice got them tonight.
I could only turn and stare in horror at the chief surgeon.
Death by starvation is a terrible thing, Goodsir, continued Stanley.
And with that we went below to the flame-flickering Darkness of the lower deck
and to a cold almost the equal of the Dante-esque Ninth Circle Arctic Night
without.

Yes, we can create God in any way we want, and that has happened in history and proven today. But that would be a perversion of who God really is. However, it would be the equivalent of acting like a funhouse mirror and project it to others.
Man is perfectly capable of being a true reflection of who God is, and Jesus proved it.
Do you have a digital bible? Type reflection into the search. LOTS of great material there.

So many of the issues that WE have with God are NOT with God, but with ourselves and how we precive God to be "like Us".
The writers of the OT had the same problem.
Christ came to reveal God in TRUTH, he truly was Emmanuel.
In Christ we have God revealed directly to Us, how God IS.

Well, Jesus was MAN, yes 100% but he was God revealed in "human form".domokunrox wrote:Yes, we can create God in any way we want, and that has happened in history and proven today. In Christ was saw, for the first time, God revealed to Us in a way that was without OUR preconceived notions and views of what we expected God to be.
In Christ we saw GOD, we heard HIS words, we saw God cry, laugh, get upset and love us without reservation.
There was no need for Us to say "God is a jealous God" because we saw God give of himself and love without question.
There was no need to say that "God is a vengeful God" because they heard ( and we read) HIS WORDS of forgiveness and of Love.
