I see what you're saying, but I think you're confusing soul and spirit. According to the bible, certain creatures(nephesh) are endowed with souls. Souls give something a mind, will, and emotions. The spirit, however, is only given to humans. The spirit is what allows us to have the capacity to communicate with God.Murray wrote:first humans with a god given soul maybe?

If you were to say, "Adam and Eve were the first humans to have a spirit ", then one could possibly make an argument, even a biblical argument for that.
