My dear friend, I have not yet responded to him, because at times I must distance myself so I don't respond in a manner that is un-Christian (and to confer with the true intellectuals, such as yourself y>:D< )
I understand. I often get tempted to use un-Christian "debating" methods (you know what I mean ;) ), but I must control myself due to the nature of the cause I'm defending. I suggest not spending too much energy on such individuals - I know how emotionally tiring it may be as you'll hardly convince them, I'd rather focus on those who are open-minded enough to listen to our arguments. Still, a proper response is definitely in order.

By the way, I still lack a degree to become a "true" intellectual, so at the moment I'm working hard to earn one. :)
"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces." Matthew 7:6

"For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse." Romans 1:20

Good for you for your efforts. You are an honorable man to not lower the bar for yourself, despite the very natural angry inclinations we get. But, you are being the better man and a true Christian by your efforts and God will grant you grace for your desire to please Him in this way. y>:D< I do have a degree, but it's quite a social science degree, so I unfortunately am not "academically" qualified to speak to many of the things I do. But I'd like to hope that I can formulate adequate arguments from time to time :P

I truly wish I could not spend too much time on such individuals, but when it's someone you're very close to, well...let's just say I'm having a great practice run at compartmentalizing and enjoying some of the much needed distance I'm putting between us.
To sustain the belief that there is no God, atheism has to demonstrate infinite knowledge, which is tantamount to saying, “I have infinite knowledge that there is no being in existence with infinite knowledge".

People just don't seem to care about it - and have a very superficial understanding of Christianity. It is seen in this country as a quaint feature of the past that is not relevant now. Political correctness has gone mad and other religions are getting more focus than Christianity just so we can be seen as a tolerant nation. This is where the real danger is. Not new atheism - just apathy and secularism
Indeed. I think it was C.S. Lewis (though it may have been Chesterton) who said that the danger of atheism isnt that one will believe in nothing, it's that one will believe in anything.

Pretty sure that one is Chesterton.

Heheh, there's a similar quote that goes around, but this one is attributed to Bishop Fulton Sheen. "If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything" :D
