Evidence...

Post by Dallas »

Okay I was at school a couple of weeks ago and I overheard this guy talking to his friend about "proof" that God does exist. Now don't get me wrong I believe in the Bible 110%, but there is some things that we have to just believe in faith. In other words some things can be proven, and some can't. We'll he was telling his cousin (who is an atheist) that God exist. So his cousin said "okay, prove to me God exist." And he went on saying how he prayed and God answered his prayer.

That right there just irked me sooooooooooo much. Now there is nothing wrong for him to tell people that God has answered his prayers, but using it as "proof" is completely impossible. There are two reasons why I say this...
1) Him and God has a relationship that his cousin does not. So by saying this, his cousin can never experience that.
2) There isn't any "Hard Evidence" for them to test it. There would have to be physical evidence for them to test in a controlled environment and still get the same or around the same answer.

So.... What are your thoughts on this Do you agree or disagree and why.

Thank you,
Dallas

I dont think there is no right or wrong answer, the holy spirit will do the converting and all we have to do is supply the message.
I actually had the same conversation with my wife, twice i prayed for sunshine ( and in spring it rains a lot here ) because we had two basketball familys days coming up and both times when it should have been raining like what was forecast, the sun shone all day and it was beautiful. I said to my wife " see God does answer my prayers " and she said " well pray for sunshine next week" i said " sorry honey but i will not put God to the test and it would be wrong of me to pray for somthing which i dont really need". My point is that while she thought it was a strange coincidence it gave me the opportunity to share a little knowlage of Gods character and how we should go about prayer. Like i said before it is not our job to convict them, we can only show them Gods love and word and the holy spirit will do the rest.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.Amen.

Did you see this from the main page?

http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/prayer.html
Acts 17:24-25 (NIV)
"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. [25] And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else."

Although, I do pray for Un-believer's I try not to debate so much with an Atheist- I've tried it before and found it to be futile-
However, the Evidence starts in Genesis-

These are things that they can't debate so much because most people already know this stuff is true and have experienced these things in their lives.
There's no denying this info, although, there are some Athiest that will.

Proof #1 Snakes/serpents use to walk upright but after the fall, God cursed them and they now crawl on their belly.
New Living Translation (©2007)
Then the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live.

Proof #2 Has a woman ever had a baby without enduring pain? No Or- Does a wife try to control her husband? Most of them do.
New Living Translation (©2007)
Then he said to the woman, "I will sharpen the pain of your pregnancy, and in pain you will give birth. And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you."

Proof #3 Man has to toil and work for a living.
New Living Translation (©2007)
And to the man he said, "Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat, the ground is cursed because of you. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.

Proof #4 I think every gardner knows about thorns and thistles.
Douay-Rheims Bible
Thorns and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou eat the herbs of the earth.

Proof #5 In the sweat of man's face shall they eat bread-Most men have to work a day job-and need I mention gravesite?
New Living Translation (©2007)
By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return."

And, there is evidence all throughout the Word of God. From Genesis all the way to Revelation.
Let my conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that I may know how to answer everyone. Colossians 4:6
