Please pray for all the skeptical and cynical people today
Hey everyone I currenly feel compelled to ask you all to pray for all the skeptical and cynical people here in the US and elsewhere who be it for emotional, volitional, or maybe even purely intellectual reasons won't consider the gospel. The more I search the internet especially on apologetics sites and message boards to even your basic soicial networking sites I'm just amazed still by just how many people are bitten by this hateful, cynical and overly skeptical atheist bug.
To me it is a clear indication of how dangerous our enemy, satan really can be. And it is certainly a true sign that we are in the last of the last days. Let's pray that God will soften their hard hearts and open their closed minds to the reality of His existence and the reality of God's plan of redemption and to further woo them into His kingdom.
Because I for one, know that the truth and evidence is well on our side and I feel like that anyone with an open mind who tries to let up on their pre concieved notions, desires, feelings, and presuppositions will almost certainly come to know Christ.
So let this be a major thing to pray about, and of course continue to pray for all the missionaries and Chrsitian apologists out there helping to both spread and defend the faith.

While you're at it, please pray to end the intolerance of all non-Christian societies and ways of thinking, and pray that Christians as a whole will truly begin to heed Jesus's command to love and respect and be kind to all people, regardless of religion or race or way of life. Pray to end the evil thought that not being Christian, being gay, or accepting the Theory of Evolution is not an illness or a mental disorder.
Re: Please pray for all the skeptical and cynical people tod
Ivellious, this sure sounds like a blanket statement you're making here. You've repeatedly been told being gay is not the issue in and of itself, and committing the act is attributed to sin, not to illness. Yet you keep attacking this straw man. You need to stop. As for the theory of evolution, I'm certain you're aware there are many Christians who are theistic evolutionists and have no issue reconciling the 2, so yet again, you are attacking a straw man. Please stop.Ivellious wrote:While you're at it, please pray to end the intolerance of all non-Christian societies and ways of thinking, and pray that Christians as a whole will truly begin to heed Jesus's command to love and respect and be kind to all people, regardless of religion or race or way of life. Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Have you read the last few posts on the thread pertaining to homosexuality? Any time you reference "curing" "treating" or "being addicted" to homosexuality, you are presuming its place as an illness. It's degrading in the worst way, and there is a reason I speak out against that kind of talk. Most people aren't of that opinion. But a few on this site and out in the world are, so it's valid to point it out. As for evolution, same goes. Most are respectful about it, but some look down upon others for holding evolution in high regard.
Re: Please pray for all the skeptical and cynical people tod
Have you read your own post and what I responded to? It sure sounded like you were making a BLANKET STATEMENT and THAT is what I was objecting to. Different people have different opinions, I am asking you to stop stereotyping all Christians within that narrow prism.Ivellious wrote:Have you read the last few posts on the thread pertaining to homosexuality? I never mentioned ALL Christians, for the record. Much like DRDS wasn't blanketing all non-believers as being possessed by satan. I make it a habit not to blanket people. I judge on a case-by-case basis. I look at more than religion or race or gender or whatever else you can be grouped into. What bugs me most is when people blanket all atheists or agnostics or Muslims or whatever as one type of person, without realizing everyone isn't a stereotype.

Man Ivellious what is a matter with you???? I didn't even think you would come to this section of the message board. Besides this area is for prayer requests, not for debate.
Why would you want to look in this area anyway since you are not a Christian and would probably care less about what other Christians pray about and ask other Christians to pray about. This is very very rude.
This was something personal I was feeling led to ask all the fellow Christians here. This was by no means a debate thread. I wasn't even wanting to debate about this.
I mean for the most part, everyone here has been nice and patient with you, but you just keep trolling all the threads trying to make people angry and it needs to stop.

You may have thought it was simply a troll post, but seriously, you're presumption that my only purpose here is to bash christianity is dumb. Yeah, I disagree on lots of points, but honestly, if I wanted to troll, I'd go somewhere else for it. If you guys consider it offensive to have any viewpoint outside of your window presented, then you are only contributing to the perception among certain groups that Christians are simply oversensitive to anything that doesn't include a Bible quote. So far most of you aren't like that, but I apologize if I'm too out of line on other posts.
This post was serious, not condescending. It was somewhat different from yours, but I seriously wish that certain people would be more tolerant of other views and not simply call everyone else out as hateful trolls. Just because I don't subscribe to every aspect of the Christian faith doesn't mean I can't pray, man. And other than prayers for ending wars, peace on Earth and so on, I pray for an end to the perceived notion among religious groups that everything needs to be militarized and pushed into law before the "other side" gets there first. All it does is breed hate.
Once again, I apologize if my post seemed to make light of yours, but I'm serious on the point.

Oh well, to everyone else I may need a break from this place for obvious reasons. Until this new wave or group of atheists go back to internet infidels .org I'll be on a league of much needed absence.

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.Amen.

Ivel, I will take your word for it that you are serious on the point you are making.
Though what you said in your posts about hating people, is the typical WBC and Phelps family hardcore militant view of Christianity, and that my friend is a cult. I wouldn't even call them Christians. A christian is someone who at least tries to follow Christ as his Lord, period.
And you did Blanket all of us together, even if that was not what you were trying to do but you did it nonethesless,

See the highlighted part, you are making a statement about "Christians as a whole" and it just implies in a single sentence that all Christians are not truly following Christ, not loving people and etc etc. Yet you deny that it was not a blanket statement. Well, I said I'd take your word for it, and I am but you also be careful about others beliefs. This section is a prayer forum, if you want this to be prayed for (as it clearly seems, you do) and you want all of what you said to come to pass then you are more than welcome to open a new thread in this section and offer up your prayer yourself. While you're at it, please pray to end the intolerance of all non-Christian societies and ways of thinking, and pray that Christians as a whole will truly begin to heed Jesus's command to love and respect and be kind to all people, regardless of religion or race or way of life. It would be a blessing if they missed the cairns and got lost on the way back. Or if
the Thing on the ice got them tonight.
I could only turn and stare in horror at the chief surgeon.
Death by starvation is a terrible thing, Goodsir, continued Stanley.
And with that we went below to the flame-flickering Darkness of the lower deck
and to a cold almost the equal of the Dante-esque Ninth Circle Arctic Night
without.

Re: Please pray for all the skeptical and cynical people tod
Let me clarify the "Christians as a whole" bit at least. I had no intention of that meaning "all Christians need to change." Rather, I meant that to mean "because not all Christians act this way, they are not acting respectfully as a whole. Thus, I hope that those Christians who I and others find out of line with their actions can become respectful and Christ-like, as many of their fellow Christians already are." In short, I was only saying that Christians are absolutely NOT a whole unit as far as how they treat others, and I hope that perhaps they can come to be a whole someday. Unrealistic, but one can hoe, right?
That same idea goes for all groups of people too, for the record (mostly religiously speaking). There are loads of disrespectful and bad people among the Muslims, atheists, Jews, Hindus, etc. etc. that sort of wind up undoing the good that the rest of their religion performs.

But before I go on a long absence, I just want to say thank you for the persecution, I should really be more thankful for it than I am. No, really I should. I'm serious.

Re: Please pray for all the skeptical and cynical people tod
DRDS, I just read over your post, and it hit me. I'm skeptical, and cynical. If I hadn't seen the change in my Mom when I was a child, a change which was completely due to the work of the Holy Spirit in her, I don't believe any argument or means of persuasion would have convinced me to believe on the work of Christ. No matter how much truth is "on our side", lives are changed and transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. No matter how much we want to change people, only God has that power.Hey everyone I currenly feel compelled to ask you all to pray for all the skeptical and cynical people here in the US and elsewhere who be it for emotional, volitional, or maybe even purely intellectual reasons won't consider the gospel.
So, I agree about praying for people we come in contact with. That God's love will show through us, so people will see Gods love, not self righteous Christians, who feel it's their duty to change the world.
