I came upon this interesting quote today.
The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and co-operation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life....
Who do you suppose said it? Ronald Reagan? George Bush? Jack Kennedy? Abe Lincoln? Sarah Palin? y:-?
John 5:24
24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

“A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.”

A wild guess, Hitler.

Okay, I googled it.
Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Yes, Paul. Hitler. Who'da thunk it? The quote sounds like a modern American, right-wing conservative politician said it.

The "national" thing kind of pushed me to think it was some "nationalist" leader and Hitler popped to mind.
Rather sad when I think about it...

Its very easy to tell people what they want to hear and then do the opposite.
Why?
People don't like to admit to themselves when they've had the wool pulled over their eyes.
