The water canopy ?

Post by twinc »

why would a water canopy be necessary millions of years later in a cooling and expanded universe and not millions of years before in a closed and confined sizzling, boiling, scorching exterminating universe - twinc

Who says there is a "water canopy", the Bible is clear about the waters above (clouds) and the waters below (lakes, rivers, ocean) and their separation (air).

Dan
1Tim1:15-17
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.Amen.

Danieltwotwenty is quite right. Despite the claims of some Christians and quite a few rather vexatious atheists, there is no need, even for those who believe in inerrancy, to posit the existence of a water canopy to accommodate the language of Genesis or any other part of the Bible. The same is also true of a flat earth, pillars holding up the sky, a dome-like structure holding the stars, or any similar feature of the universe. Difficulties in translating Hebrew, failure to pay heed to phenomenological language, and misunderstanding the literary style of certain passages (coupled with a poor understanding of natural science and the history of science itself) have, unfortunately, led many to make the exegetical errors in question.
