Colorado Forest Fires

Post by Stygian »

Colorado has gone for a record number of 100 degree days in a row, and this is the result.

A few days ago, a fire started in Waldo Canyon near Colorado Springs. http://www.gazette.com/articles/blaze-1 ... -side.html Today, it has doubled in size. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/47974222/ns/weather/

Thousands have been evacuated, and many are left without homes. Focus on the Family, located in Colorado Springs, has offered emergency services their unused buildings to help with rescue efforts. The affected area is very important to my family. I work with some people who have already lost their homes. In addition, the Flying W Ranch http://www.flyingw.com/ was completely burned to the ground. It's a strongly Christian entertainment and tourist spot, performing old-timey gospel tunes to their audiences. I was crushed to hear it was destroyed. My family and I had a special place in our hearts for the Flying W.

In addition, another fire has popped up in Boulder, Colorado: http://www.examiner.com/article/boulder ... boulder-co and homes have already lost.

I'm praying for the evacuees and the rescue workers trying to stop the fire, which some sources say shows no sign of stopping. I pray that the Lord will give people strength in this time and the tools to begin anew. The terrestrial, structural, and psychological damage done needs healing and support. I pray for the safety of everyone in the area.

Thanks everyone,
Adam

Well, up in Fort Collins and the fire here is coming under control as long as no high wind pick up. Very smoky off and on thru out the past weeks. Nice not have to smell smoke and see no plumes of smoke last two days. Fire still goes on and some rain hit the burn area tonight butnot enough.

Boulder and CO Springs are being hit now as well as other areas. We need rain

Pray for rain...

Many of the firefighters from the High Park Fire (Ft Collins) are heading off to the other areas. These people are tired (borderline exhausted) and need your prayers too...

An elder at my church works on larger fires like this and got the call to head out there. I'll keep this in my prayers.
