Aristotle, Epictetus quotes and Christianity

Post by 1over137 »

The following quotes remind me of Christianity:

http://www.friendshipquotescollection.c ... totle.html:

"All virtue is summed up in dealing justly."

"For though we love both the truth and our friends, piety requires us to honor the truth first."

""To perceive is to suffer."

""The only stable state is one in which all all men are equal before law."

""A friend is a second self."

http://thinkexist.com/quotes/top/nation ... eek/2.html:

"“If you hear that someone is speaking ill of you, instead of trying to defend yourself you should say: "He obviously does not know me very well, since there are so many other faults he could have mentioned"”
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.
-- 1 Thessalonians 5:21

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.
-- Philippians 1:6

The differences are that these are starting points in Christianity, not the end.

Acts 17:26, 27, 28, 29, 30 sums it up as well too...
