why?

Why would god want the praise? surly an almight god would not wish for us to use our time and energy praying. unless he does it for publisity

That is true Prodigal.

I also think the praise and worship is a sign of love and that is what God wants. We are not inconsequential - we have been created with the capacity to love and that is such a powerful thing that God is actually enriched by that. (more so we are, but God also) Such is the meaning behind being "created in His image." Not that we are God, but through the cleansing blood of Jesus we can have the love of God, which is a powerful thing indeed.
