I was too judgemental wasn't I?

I think I was too judgemental with this guy, Dewey Phillips, back in the 1960's. He was a great disk jockey, instrumental in helping Elvis Presley's career get started. He was an alcoholic it eventually became clear and I was much more judgemental in those days.

The first link is him on wikipedia, the second ironically considering his sponsor was a good 17 minutes of him at his best on the radio in 1952. Love him or hate him I hope many of you will acess the links and give us feedback.

If I get some requests I may tell you about the last two times I saw him.

On his radio link there are great pictures of him and Elvis that come and go.

Do you think I was right to judge Dewey as I used too?

How did you use to judge him? Without telling us, we cannot answer your question.

Stop feeding my paranoia, 1over :shakehead: . I looked down upon him, didn't want to have anything to do with him, disparaged him, blamed him solely for his predicament, so on and so forth. Man, if I couldn't make that clear I suppose I'm not making it clear now. If you aren't just teasing me I don't know whats going on. If my suspicions cause this thread to be diverted from its origional topic I will just run it again. English is not your first language is it, 1over? Maybe that explains a lot, but most of the time you use it so well :?

1over, please don't say such things to people that you said to me without accessing their links, both of them :pound:

I honestly was expecting you to have something helpful to say instead of just your "I don't understand" stuff.
Now, give it another try, please. And access the links, at least the first five minutes of the radio one. And almost all of the wikepedia one.

And the rest of you, how about commenting fully on my origional topic before telling me she's right and I'm wrong? y[-o<
Or can't you understand either?

I looked the wikipedia link only. And I was to understand your post better so that I could provide better anwer myself.

Well, I will be silent for some time. It will be interesting to watch what others say to you (if they do).

Hope they could provide better answers than me.

I don't know what's going on 1over, giving me the silent treatment would be too easy. Did you look up the wikipedia link before or after your first reply to me? Do you understand now? Would you please tell me why you can't or won't go to the other link, if you have not?
If he talks too fast in a strange accent for you to follow don't be ashamed. I for one would be proud of you if you did your best. Or could it be someone who reads and writes English at well cannot speak it or understand it spoken at all? No need to be ashamed. I once heard of a guy who missed out on a great opportunity because was too ashamed to admit he could not read. Would not want something like that to happen to you.
And especially on the radio in 1952 in the USA it could not be too offensive.

I realy think others would find this interesting. It would distress me if they don't even try.
I think you might find the experience helpfull about learning about culture where I have lived my whole life and can remember at least the last few years of Dewey's career, the Memphis TN. area circa 1955-1958.

777,

I am beginning to wonder if English is your first language?

That first post is as vague as can be. If I had been in Hana's place, I'd ask you the same question.

If people can't understand you then its very much possible that you are not making yourself clear. Please don't be ashamed to admit this.
It would be a blessing if they missed the cairns and got lost on the way back. Or if
the Thing on the ice got them tonight.

I could only turn and stare in horror at the chief surgeon.

And with that we went below to the flame-flickering Darkness of the lower deck
and to a cold almost the equal of the Dante-esque Ninth Circle Arctic Night
without.

I looked up the wikipedia link before. I found some small info on the guy. I thought I would find on the radio link some more info on him. Is that right? But I have no idea based on what to say whether you were too judgmental on him.

Well, I will admit I am trying and trying and trying to make myself clear. I honestly thought everyone knew what being judgemental meant or else I would have put it some other way. Am I making myself clear?

On the radio link was part of his show. Did I imply anything else? I have come to believe there is only One True Judge as to what is right and wrong, and what should be forgiven and what not. That would be God.
I have run into so much on Dewey lately on the internet that it reminds me of how I used to feel. I suspect lots of people on these boards would feel as I used to feel. I want everyone to come out with their feelings on that and make themselves aware of something of great interest to me regarding American popular culture.

Well, since you insist, here are my "feelings". I feel like I have absolutely no idea what your point is. You are asking us if we think you're too judgmental. You haven't provided us with anything you said or did, so we can give you our opinion on that. In other words, YOU'RE NOT MAKING ANY SENSE!!!!

Does this, which I posted earlier, make any sense?

I looked down upon him, didn't want to have anything to do with him, disparaged him, blamed him solely for his predicament, so on and so forth.

And if someone said that they were too judgemental about something before all this started would you have known what they meant?

Thank you for your kind words.

Its funny however no one acually wants to listen to the radio broadcast. I think it was made when he was in the hospital after his first automobile crash which either was caused by drinking or likely started his alchoholism or both.

Well, I tried to be nice, really I did. But nobody has time to listen to a 17 minute audio?

Well then, take this 4 minute video. If you stay to the end, it might save your life. And your soul.

Or if your mind is not right, the opposite.

Not my style of music I listen but. The message is anti-junkie-like, right? Drugs are horrible thing. I saw a documentary on criminals who did crime while drug addicted. It was sad.
