He will be sadly missed. y[-o<
1Tim1:15-17
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.Amen.

Nelson Mandela was no "saint" - and so let's not try to romanticize him into one. But he was extraordinary in so many ways. Growing up under Apartheid, we just can't imagine the world he originally inhabited. And as one long jailed and amazingly thrust into power, it is amazing that he didn't seek revenge and vindictiveness. He urged healing. In the hands of one less wise, the immediate post-Apartheid South Africa could well have exploded into a dark spiral of mindless violence. He was the difference. He was a true leader. And, true or not, he professed to be a Christian.

Nelson Mandela was no "saint"
Actually I don't think anyone can fit the true meaning of the word.
It would be a blessing if they missed the cairns and got lost on the way back. Or if
the Thing on the ice got them tonight.

I could only turn and stare in horror at the chief surgeon.
Death by starvation is a terrible thing, Goodsir, continued Stanley.
And with that we went below to the flame-flickering Darkness of the lower deck
and to a cold almost the equal of the Dante-esque Ninth Circle Arctic Night
without.

I agree Neo, people always want to jump up and down about the bad stuff. I prefer to look at all the good things they did and Nelson definitely did loads of good things.

Yes very true, just the other day, reading about Lewis' "dark side" I thought, man we are all sinners and we all need grace. Amen to that.

I've heard conflicting reports about Mandella that are disturbing and would muddy his name.

I'd need to really investigate further, but really, I don't know that much about the guy accept that a whole lot of people praise him for standing up again anti-segregation in SA.

Sky News report about the murdering of white South African farmers:

Also check out: Genocide Watch has some particularly scary stories: Other links: Did come across this video where a white guy mocks any issue, although many in the comments think him foolish: What to believe huh?

John 5:24

If you look deep enough you will find something dark about everyone, even a saint and Mandela was no saint.
No one is perfect and no one is good, just as Christ said.

St.Paul anyone?

Paul,

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with that. The problem is that Mandela is being put on a pedestal.

I don't think so, I knew his past but I still respect him for what he has done in the same way I respect Paul, Moses, Peter etc... etc...

I think people just want to celebrate the good he has done for this world and forgive him for the bad, remember forgive is to forget.
