Some good soundtracks?
I love music from movies. Which soundtracks do you like?
Just wish to broaden my horizon.
Just wish to broaden my horizon.
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

To me it is the Lord of the Rings Soundtracks all the way - by Howard Shore - each film one an Oscar for its soundtrack and you can see why when you listen to it - Epic. I also like a lot of stuff from Hans Zimmer such as Backdraft and Gladiator.

While it isn't a soundtrack, this theme song will definitely broaden your horizons.
John 5:24

If you like 1980's music, the sound track to Vision Quest is really good.

Coming at your question from another direction, just about anything by Henry Mancini is well worth listening to. It's one of my frequently used "channels" on Pandora. A fair amount of Les Paul's music (with and without Mary Ford) has been used in movies ("My Favorite Year" comes to mind). "That Thing You Do" has some really good pseudo-60s music (it's a fictional story about a one-hit wonder band set in the mid-60s).

Re: Some good soundtracks?
I started to listen to suggestions.
First Lord of the Rings, really epic. Then I saw on youtube avatar and I listened to it also. What a great Sunday I had.
Good night all.

Re: Some good soundtracks?
Well, I like the Star Wars soundtrack composed by John Williams.
I also like the soundtracks for the Patlabor movies, which were composed by Kenji Kawai.
(Also, Yoko Kanno's compositions for the Macross Plus animated movie were quite unusual and rather interesting.)

Um, for the 1995 Ghost in the Shell animated movie, the music was composed by Kenji Kawai.crookedvulture wrote:Kanno's work on Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell is incredible!FlawedIntellect wrote:(Also, Yoko Kanno's compositions for the Macross Plus animated movie were quite unusual and rather interesting.)
Though Kanno /did/ compose music for the 2002-2003 animated series "Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex." (And for the 2004-2005 2nd season, "2nd GIG" [Yes, I think that's a pun]) (And also for the 2005 and 2006 OVA films, which I think are compressed versions of the full series, but I haven't watched those.)
I'm sad to say that I haven't watched Cowboy Bebop. I keep hearing great things about it, though.

Oh yes, I'm aware. I was talking about the series in particular.FlawedIntellect wrote: Um, for the 1995 Ghost in the Shell animated movie, the music was composed by Kenji Kawai.

I know that you're aware! :3 I just wanted to be sure that it was clear for the others, and also the topic seemed more focused on movie soundtracks. Hence the need for clarity.crookedvulture wrote:Oh yes, I'm aware. Re: Some good soundtracks?
I love soundtracks from a bunch of video games, especially RPGs like Final Fantasy and Disgaea. Don't know if you'd be interested in game soundtracks but I find them to be at least as good as movie soundtracks.
