Christians should not eat meat
The lion lays down with the lamb and there is no more killing in Heaven
He who is of little faith eateth herbs - little Faith in eating meat
Meats are for the belly and belly for meats and God shall destroy them both
Also, i believe Jesus eats Holy fish, not real fish, I dont believe the Messiah would kill anything.
I also believe we should not eat anything with vinegar out of respect for Jesus

I think you are reading into texts what's not there.
It would be a blessing if they missed the cairns and got lost on the way back. Or if
the Thing on the ice got them tonight.
I could only turn and stare in horror at the chief surgeon.
Death by starvation is a terrible thing, Goodsir, continued Stanley.
And with that we went below to the flame-flickering Darkness of the lower deck
and to a cold almost the equal of the Dante-esque Ninth Circle Arctic Night

Re: Christians should not eat meat
From Genesis 9:
BTW rebekah, be sure to stick to the KJV when you quote 1 Corinthians 6:13. Besides endearing you to KJV-Only folk, the Greek word translated "meat" by the KJV, broma, actually means food of any kind. It's not a mistranslation by the KJV, just an example of how English language usage has changed over the past 4 centuries. Anyway, using a more modern translation would kind of mess up your argument.
From Luke 24:9:1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. 9:2 Every living creature of the earth and every bird of the sky will be terrified of you. Everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea are under your authority. 9:3 You may eat any moving thing that lives. As I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
From John 21:24:36 While they were saying these things, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 24:37 But they were startled and terrified, thinking they saw a ghost. 24:38 Then he said to them, “Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 24:39 Look at my hands and my feet; it’s me! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones like you see I have.” 24:40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 24:41 And while they still could not believe it (because of their joy) and were amazed, he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 24:42 So they gave him a piece of broiled fish, 24:43 and he took it and ate it in front of them.
My emphasis in all three passages; New English Translation.21:9 When they got out on the beach, they saw a charcoal fire ready with a fish placed on it, and bread. 21:10 Jesus said, “Bring some of the fish you have just now caught.” 21:11 So Simon Peter went aboard and pulled the net to shore. It was full of large fish, one hundred fifty-three, but although there were so many, the net was not torn. 21:12 “Come, have breakfast,” Jesus said. But none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?” because they knew it was the Lord. 21:13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. 21:14 This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.

IT should be obvious to people that its evil to kill and eat the animal's dead body. I still think Jesus must have eaten something Holy and it was a test of Faith. I don't believe Holy Jesus eats the dead animal.

Re: Christians should not eat meat
It's also obvious that dead people don't rise from the dead, that they aren't born of virgins, and that they can't heal people born blind with their spit. But the Bible says Jesus did all those things.
The point is that you're far better off believing what the Bible says then what you think is "obvious."

And that, brothers and sisters, is the kind of foolishness you get people who insist on denying biblical theism. A good illustration of any as the length people will go to avoid acknowledging basic truths.Proinsias wrote:I don't think you are hearing me. Preference for ice cream is a moral issue

Re: Christians should not eat meat
I forgot this AM ... Jesus on one occasion fed 5000 (actually more, as there were 5000 men, plus women and children) with bread and fish (Matthew 14, Mark 6, Luke 9, and John 6), and on another occasion fed 4000 (more, same as above) with bread and fish (Mark 8 and Matthew 15).
rebekah, you are free to follow whatever diet you choose. I hope in so doing you manage to contrive one that is nutritionally complete (not easy if you go vegan). But please do not try to claim Scripture or morality requires a vegetarian-vegan diet. It doesn't work. From God's command to Noah, to the dietary laws given Moses, to the actions of Jesus (what He gave people to eat and what He Himself ate), Scripture is clear that eating meat - whether you call if beef or a cow's dead body - is permissible.
And now for my dinner of tri-tip dead cow.

I believe it was Holy food and a great test of goodness
Here is my evidence from the Bible that you should not eat meat because it is evil:
Adam and Eve did not eat meat in the garden
The lion lies down with the lamb in the end and they no longer eat meat
Jesus said he who is of little Faith (Faith in eating meat) eateth herbs
God also said the belly is for meats and meats for the belly and God will destroy them both.

Re: Christians should not eat meat
I think you should take some teaching about the themes and passages you are picking up to abstain from meat. I mean you can abstain from meat, but these are the wrong reasons to do it.

Re: Christians should not eat meat
Not being a meat fan, I usually eat beans. Bush's beans, which I smuggle accross the border,
http://www.bushbeans.com
...in certain ethnic cesspools - such as Toronto - some stores will sell Bush beans but only in the insipid & uninspiring flavors that anglo Canadians like. (Culinary taste reflects the culture.)
This evening, my wife made salmon in a skillet, accompanied by asparagus and sweet potato fries. And we had a Chilean white wine. Desert consisted of a variety of cheeses and red grapes, and the same wine.
Was this a Christian meal?

Perhaps merely an urban legend, but I heard that before naming their hamburger business, "MacDonalds," the founders considered the name, "Moos No More," but thought it sounded too negative, too anti-cow.
