Ken Ham on Russell Crowe Noah Film

This movie looks dumb. Russell goshdarn Crow?!? He fights off armies? Who is he fighting and why? How does it have to do with Noah in any way?

It just seems like pandering to action movie people to me, or possibly an attempt to get negative press, since no press is bad press.

You are trying soooo hard to find something positive in this movie.

The author only seems to understand his doubts about "god" better than before. In that article, he never mentioned being any closer to God.

I do admire your determination to try to find something good that came from that movie. Keep looking. I'm sure something will come along.

I'm sorry but your just flat out wrong, he bought up many good points and I can see it has eased some of the burdens on his heart that drew him away from God in the first place.

The movie is about a man struggling, trying to reconcile the existence of evil and the existence of god. Noah struggles with the same things that made me an atheist. It also discusses the nature of the relationship between God and man. Noah is not crazy, I'd probably want a strong drink after the end of the world too. He certainly handled it a heck of a lot better than I could have!

As you can see he identified with the character Noah who struggled with the same issue he had with God but in the end just had to trust God, maybe he will decide to trust God again.

You are right however, I do try to see the good in everything, but I think that is a good trait rather than a bad one.

Maybe you need to take off your sunglasses because all you seem to see is darkness, makes me wonder what is influencing your thoughts.

God works in mysterious ways...he even used a donkey once to get the point across. Men are all fallen, sinners but I think sometimes God can work through just about anything, be that a movie or a ken ham plank. If a movie helps someone get close to God then so be it, it may look too liberal or fictional but that is hardly a problem, since millions know Noah's story, whether they believe it or not is another thing. But you never know from where and when someone just stumble upon God...we should not forget that Saul was a not going on a noble mission on the road to Damascus when he faced Christ. God does work mysteriously.

And Jesus told us not to be naive to danger and evil - AND anticipate and prepare for it:

“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves."

"He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one."

I don't think I am naive to evil, the question is what is the real evil, a movie or the hearts and minds of people, while I agree the movie is far from the Biblical narrative I don't think it is inherently bad. But the attitudes and heart conditions of some people are a bit twisted and bitter.

I think I am being wise as a serpent because I can recognise when something is not perfect but can also see how God can use it for his purposes.

Daniel, probably mine was not an appropriate observation for just debating the merits of a film.

But it's not just that "Noah" isn't true to Scripture, but that it reinforces in the minds of many that the story of Noah is merely a mythical tale with no real spiritual importance.
