What would have happened had Adam never sinned?

Post by Kenny »

If Adam and Eve never sinned, and lived an eternal life in the Garden of Eden without death, would they have eventually had children in the Garden? If there were no death, wouldn't it just be a matter of time before humans animals and insects overpopulate the planet due to reproduction without anyone or anything dying? Or do we assume they would not have had any off spring; that God had no intention for them or the animals to reproduce. If that is the case, is it safe to assume they were originally created without sex organs?

Does anybody know of anything in the bible that might address this? Your thoughts?

They were told to multiply to replenish and subdue the earth. Genesis 1:28

Indiscriminate breeding only started when life was threatened with death.
Nature also responded and things went ballistic. Plant and animal life began to seed and reproduce faster than normal, especially after the flood.
It was necessary to a degree for survival, but creating imbalances and competition.

As corruption spread, so did getting drunk and having unplanned offspring, and the same imbeciles charged God with irresponsibility for allowing suffering.

With the values of eternal life would there have been enough room?

Put it this way, what does it mean to be a co heir with God and Christ? Romans 8:17. There are millions of other created worlds whose intelligent creatures have never been visited by a human being and who have already prepared a welcome. As man was to enhance the world he first had, he is to progress in time to be a servant of God to all other worlds, which number is billions. Plenty of rewarding jobs vacant.

Some evidence or references for this would be nice please

To be honest Kenny, my view was there never was a question of whether Adam or Eve would sin - because the nature of freewill is that all will fall short of the the glory of God. God wanted freewill beings so already had his plan of redemption in place before we were even created. He knew in order for you to exist and spend an eternity of joy with you he would have to die for that to happen. He did not have to do it - but he did it anyway. Pretty amazing I think.

As Pauli would say, this is not even wrong.

Sounds more like a Mormon doctrine to me.

The sample scriptures were aimed at your reaction to this last paragraph before you picked it.

I do not see how you can say that we will be God's ambassadors to all these other worlds from those scriptures. Or that there are other worlds in the first place. If there are other worlds with intelligent life then you need to address a whole host of theological issues.

Kenny, I think your question assumes Adam and Eve would have lived forever. First there's the question of "would have they?". This is debatable. Some say yes, some say no. Some say if they act from the tree of life, then they would have lived forever, etc. Then there's the question of "Did God know they would sin". I think the answer to this is a clear yes. God set in motion his plans for salvation before he even created earth. He knew they would chose to sin and He knew a redemptive act was required from the beginning. So, whether or not they would have lived forever is somewhat irrelevant considering God knew it would never come to that.

So you think humans and animals would have ceased to reproduce when the planet became full enough?

This is all mere speculation, therefore, we do not know what it was like to literally walk with God in the cool of the day and live in paradise. It stands to reason that during that era things were etremely different. If humanity wouldn't have fallen, then God would have something else in mind for the population growth, such as, just maybe even more worlds to govern elsewhere in the universe. We do not know but with God, he would have taken care of it nevertheless.

However, for mere speculation, one of Adam and Eve's progeny, could have fallen into sin later and messed life all up anyway and it would have begun their somewhere in the begats... Who knows, for speculation, maybe you or I would have been that begat that started the fall...

I was quoting from the Authorized version or KJV Bible. "Worlds" is plural in the KJV.

Remember the New Jerusalem which is the heavenly city will rest on earth one day, and earth becomes the capital of the universe. The Bible names the inhabitants a nation of Kings and priests, - all in one place relating to each other? No, elsewhere.

The role of these people is not as the role of earthly kings and priests, nothing like it. The hierarchy is opposite to earth, the highest is the servant, so they are servants to many worlds for God.

Their role is apparent from two perspectives, one by the original plan for Adam and Eve to look after earth, and the other their new role in heaven, with the earth being a central meeting place. The design of the city /heaven also reveals this.

To be a co heir with Christ does not mean to sit on a throne twiddling your thumbs, it is a very practical and useful life.

The whole point of salvation is that people can live forever. What is the point of anyone's life if they die? It does not matter how long you have lived, if in the end you die, you will eventually be forgotten, you are nothing.
If eternal life is not in question here, then Christ need not have given His own everlasting life for us, He could have used angels to give us all an extension.

You'd have to ask God that one.
