I said you wasted your time on a subject:
-that has no more proof, the bible only mentioned the fathers and the children, not the wives. So the findings of where the wives came from shall lead to discussion and imagination only. These discussion and imagination may go on without end.
-that is not important. Suppose you finally agreed on finding out where the wives came from (from a rib, a stone, from heaven, other tribes, the daughters of Adam or else) what happen next?

You get to answer people in a better way. A lot of young ones, especially, ask these questions and you have to have a good answer. Otherwise they use their imagination and think something which would be worse.
It would be a blessing if they missed the cairns and got lost on the way back. Or if
the Thing on the ice got them tonight.

I could only turn and stare in horror at the chief surgeon.
Death by starvation is a terrible thing, Goodsir, continued Stanley.
And with that we went below to the flame-flickering Darkness of the lower deck
and to a cold almost the equal of the Dante-esque Ninth Circle Arctic Night
without.

You don't have to answer all the questions they asked. People have so many questions that they don't even have enough time to ask and you don't have enough time to answer them even if you really known the answers. Just answer the questions you think they are helpful for them. I find nothing helpful if we known clearly who the wife of Cain is, from where did she came, how old when she got marriage, etc. even if we have proofs for those.

When Jesus was still on earth, He just preached what He thought that is good for us. He didn't try to answer the questions those lead to nothing although He can answer them easily.

As Paul once written: while the Jew demand signs, the Greek look for wisdom, but he preached Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles (1 Corinthians 1:22-23) we don't try to persuade them with the answers of knowledge and wisdom since God didn't find His sheeps this way.

Sorry, I didn't try to stop the others from discussion. Because I, myself is being in the middle of discussion.
I just presented my idea that we should pay more attention on the subjects those make people better and pay less attention on the subjects those are "good for nothing" (as I thought) and especially they clearly have not much information to discuss (such as the story of the wives above).

If anyone finds himself agreeing/disagreeing with me please join discussion to find out a better solution.

But please don't think that I am trying to stop others from asking the questions.

Thank you for clarifying your position. Personally I think It is the peripheral matters that make for good discussion as long as it is done with guidelines and peoples salvation is not called into question. There are plenty of threads going on on the big stuff as well

Nice to have you here ViviStd
Can I ask where you are from? Is English your first language?
I'm thinking there may be a bit of a language barrier happening here.
I understand what it is your saying,
I think it is great to ask questions and bounce off each other thoughts and ideas but at the root of it all, such questions are not really all that important. What was made crystal clear to us in scripture is first and foremost what we should as believers focus on within our spirit, which many on here do. But in tackling the big issues, smaller ones arise :)

I am Vietnamese, English is not my first language as I once noticed in this forum. I have been spending time learning English so my writings are not very well as I once admitted. Nice to meet you here.
