Was Adam perfect?

Was Adam perfect up to the time he sinned, or was he created imperfect since God knew he was going to sin?

There is no one or anything that is perfect other than God.
There is nowhere in the bible where it is stated that there is any being, any part of creation, that is perfect other than God.
At best creation is very good.
Adam was very good, but not perfect.

Why do you think God created him, knowing he was going to sin and cause so many problems?

Agreed with Paul, Adam was not perfect in the same sense we say God is perfect. God can't sin, but Adam could.

Hi stuartcr. Welcome to the forum.
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

Cause so many problems? Hmmm, one can argue that the only problem Adam caused was the lost of immortality while in the Garden of Eden because all the rest is based on OUR use/abuse of free will.
But that issue aside, God created Adam out of love even knowing the potential issues, much like every parent that decided to have a child.

That's quite an only problem...introducing original sin to the world, ruining it for every other person that will ever live.

Parents don't know the time of and the offenses their children will commit or how it will effect others, God does, doesn't He?

Parents KNOW that the children that they bring into the world will give them (and other people) lots of problems ( and hopefully lots of good stuff too).
God knew that Adam would sin and He also knew that there was a plan to address the issue of "free will" and the human propensity to sin.
As for the issue of original sin, God knew that a being MUST be free to reject Him if that being is to be able to LOVE him freely.

Parents do not know the outcome of their childrens actions, but God does. That is a big difference. How many people would have children if they knew that child was going to grow up to be a murderer or rapist.

That would mean that God creates people that He knows will reject Him and be sentenced to hell, doesn't it?

Nope, not at all.
People are free to accept or reject His love.
God doesn't create anyone anymore, WE DO.
We bring people into this world, literally kicking and screaming ( hopefully).

God does breath life into our creations though, doesn't He? He is involved with each new human in some way, isn't He?

God sustains his creation every second of every hour of every day.
Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.

Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

God, as the unmoved mover, causes all motion. Look
up Aquinas' first way.

That would include God knowing the future of each individual?
