Suicide or Martyrdom?
Re: Suicide or Martyrdom?
Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Stuart, if you are absolute, then I should consider my decisions with respect to you.
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

Re: Suicide or Martyrdom?
Stuart,
That's called subjective. Not objective or absolute.
Look at Dr. Craig's answer here.

Hope that helps.“Absolute” means “regardless of the circumstances.” “Relative” means “varying with the circumstances.” We can agree, for example, that it is not absolutely wrong to kill another person. In some circumstances killing another person may be morally justified and even obligatory. To affirm that one’s moral duty varies with the circumstances is not to say that we have no objective moral duties to fulfill.
John 5:24
24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

Who do you believe determines one's objective moral duties that need fulfillment?

I thought you'd already established that, it's you.stuartcr wrote:Who do you believe determines one's objective moral duties that need fulfillment?

That is what you believe? If so, kudos for you.

It's not what I believe, it's what you absolutely stated. Are you now changing your absolute mind?stuartcr wrote:That is what you believe? If so, kudos for you.

What does it mean 'my absolutes'? How 'my absolutes' can be absolutes?stuartcr wrote:No, your absolutes are yours, not mine.1over137 wrote:Stuart, if you are absolute, then I should consider my decisions with respect to you.

Re: Suicide or Martyrdom?
Yes it is what you believe. As I stated earlier, you have your absolutes, and I have mine. There are things that I would or wouldn't do, just as there are things you would or wouldn't do. I believe God instills this in each individual. I only have to prove this to myself, and as far as I'm concerned, I already have. Your beliefs are different than mine, so what you consider to be an absolute, is different than mine.Byblos wrote:Here's a summary:
