If this is true, that mayor should be fired. That's an abuse of power. It's disgusting. I would expect that in Kalifornia, but Texas? I expect an outrage in Houston over this if it's true.

How soon we Christians will be forced to wear something akin to the gold star and removed from public and all commerce remains to be seen, The Gay Brown Shirts are on the march! Never forget that Ernst Rohm, the founder of the Brown Shirts, was a militant homosexual as was the elite of the Brown Shirts and who did they target?Philip wrote:We sure got here a lot quicker than many would have thought!

Re: So the State is now Vetting Pastors' Sermons???!!!
I believe that God will give Christians a chance to stand up in overwhelming numbers against this - but if they don't... Fortunately, legally, this would appear unable to fly. But that is precisely where it gets dicey, as we elect presidents and a congress that can place a group of people on the nation's highest court, whom we do not elect and are there for LIFE (or until they step down). THIS is why elections truly matter! And in this country, God has graceously given us an opportunity to elect or defeat those of dubious and nefarious values (although you can't always know the difference). So the question is, what will the true Christians do - will they at least do what they CAN do? Or will they be too busy on election day, staring blankly into their electronic devices while sighing, moaning and quickly clicking on the next article about the Katrashian sisters?

What makes Rick think I'm a Republican? Is it because I care about what laws are thrust upon us, what kind of leaders we have? I think a lot of traditonally Democratic-leaning and independent voters are just as outraged at what is happening. Many Republicans are as bad as their Democrat colleagues. BTW, I align with NO party! Some just don't seem to make the connection with the kinds of courts we have and the elected officials we end up with who appoint judges for whom we are allowed no vote. IF ONLY people of good values - ESPESCIALLY Christians - would at least discerningly vote, we wouldn't have nearly as many morons in office. We wouldn't have nearly as many radical, liberal judges that come up with all kinds of outrageous and clearly unconstitutional rulings. But they don't, and thus, we do. And if people don't wake up, the vetting of sermons is gonna be the least of our worries - the secularists will use the courts to sue churches into bankruptcy, will jail pastors. It's really not a laughing matter.

Nope! It was a Windows setting check box under tools-options-advanced- and under "Browsing" you must select "check my spelling as I type."

Govt tells Christian ministers: Perform same-sex weddings or face jail, fines
Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys filed a federal lawsuit and a motion for a temporary restraining order Friday to stop officials in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, from forcing two ordained Christian ministers to perform wedding ceremonies for same-sex couples.
City officials told Donald Knapp that he and his wife Evelyn, both ordained ministers who run Hitching Post Wedding Chapel, are required to perform such ceremonies or face months in jail and/or thousands of dollars in fines. The city claims its “non-discrimination” ordinance requires the Knapps to perform same-sex wedding ceremonies now that the courts have overridden Idaho’s voter-approved constitutional amendment that affirmed marriage as the union of a man and a woman.
“The government should not force ordained ministers to act contrary to their faith under threat of jail time and criminal fines,” said ADF Senior Legal Counsel Jeremy Tedesco. “Many have denied that pastors would ever be forced to perform ceremonies that are completely at odds with their faith, but that’s what is happening here – and it’s happened this quickly. The city is on seriously flawed legal ground, and our lawsuit intends to ensure that this couple’s freedom to adhere to their own faith as pastors is protected just as the First Amendment intended.”

Re: So the State is now Vetting Pastors' Sermons???!!!
My first thought when I read your headline, was how can the government intrude into a church and make them marry someone they don't want to marry. But it's not a church, it's a business. I'm not sure this couple has a leg to stand on. You run a business, you abide by the laws of the state. I think it's a different issue than the usual "church vs state" issue. If the state says that a business in that state cannot discriminate against x, and I want to go against the law, then I guess this is what happens.Stu wrote:Govt tells Christian ministers: Perform same-sex weddings or face jail, fines

I'm not sure, but it seems their "rights" as pastors aren't in question. It's their "rights" as business owners. And there are state laws about how businesses aren't allowed to discriminate against certain people. The city is on seriously flawed legal ground, and our lawsuit intends to ensure that this couple’s freedom to adhere to their own faith as pastors is protected just as the First Amendment intended.”
I am interested to see how this one plays out.
