1Tim1:15-17
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.Amen.

Re: Doctrine of Hell
It is for ever because the bible said "Rev_20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.". "tormented for ever and ever"
Re: Doctrine of Hell
I said it is fire I'm not changing the meaning of any thing. I just said I wouldn't say someone was wrong if they said it was something basically like fire.

If it is metaphorical and not literal it means that annihilation would be forever and ever.jpbg33 wrote:It is for ever because the bible said "Rev_20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.". I mean seriously do you think there will be days and nights in hell.

Re: Doctrine of Hell
Just a question - that relates to the whole idea of 'hell,'
"Why does God not take the better wicked to heaven?"

Re: Doctrine of Hell
Annihilation is not for ever because once you are annihilated then your punishment is over. The bible says that the devil will bee cast into the lake of fire where the best and the false prophets "are not "were". all sinners are going to go to hell not just the bad ones. Jesus is the only way.

They would corrupt it...Starhunter wrote:Just a question - that relates to the whole idea of 'hell,'
"Why does God not take the better wicked to heaven?"
as it is written explains why...
Isaiah 26:10 JPS, Let favour be shown to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness; in the land of uprightness will he deal wrongfully, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.
Only Heaven is there true righteousness. Any like you suggested that refused God's grace to be freely changed in this mortal life will likewise refuse in heaven and will view God's nature, attributes, goodness as something to continue to exploit for his/her own benefit in heaven as they proved by their life on earth. They simply refuse to behold the majesty of YHWH in the full implications of this passage just as their life on earth proved.

Re: Doctrine of Hell
Then you undermine your argument about salvation. (Sorry for cross threading here)
If nothing we do is good then what saves us? Jesus.

Re: Doctrine of Hell
I'm not agreeing that I undermine anything but yes it is though Jesus that we do good and with out Jesus we can not even do our best. That is another reason why even the best of us will go to hell if we do not accept Jesus.

Re: Doctrine of Hell
I don't agree with that.
We can do our best without Jesus, lots do but if we do not believe in Jesus then we won't be saved.
It's not about how good we are. It's about belief.

Re: Doctrine of Hell
With out Jesus we will never do our best we will do the best we fill we should do but we could always do better. Someone may seem to be doing there best. There not really, they may be doing really good in people eyes but not there absolute best.

You don't know that!

Re: Doctrine of Hell
I really don't care if people are doing there best or not the bible says "Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" and that is why even the best of us go to hell because know mater how good we may look we have all sinned and if we do not come to Jesus we will find our selves in hell when we die.
