Good point! I know they approve of evolution but also disregard the shroud, well the Pope does maybe not all Catholics.Furstentum Liechtenstein wrote:This thread is entitled CATHOLICISM...hello? The Roman Catholic Church approves of evolution. So stop the YEC/OEC BS! Hello? Is anybody home?

That's it then. I can't be a Catholic because I certainly don't disregard the shroud.

Then I suggest you read Bippy's thread on the Shroud from the beginning. I thought the Shroud was bunk but when I considered the evidence apart from my pre-conceived ideas, I had to recant my position.abelcainsbrother wrote:Good point! I don't think the Catholic Church has an official stance on the authenticity of the shroud. But I could be wrong.

Re: Catholicism
It seems to me that Orthodox Christianity always gets the raw end of the stick.
They're meant to be the second largest, and I've never seen anyone promoting them.
So perhaps you should consider them too.
With apostolic succession, beautiful religious practices if you're into that.
And in my opinion, while Mary is very much esteemed, their beliefs re: her seem much more acceptable.
Decisions, decisions... who is the One True Church?

Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

I'm sure you'll find it interesting. Quite a good read if you want some history.
Neutral even. Seriously, quite a good introductory book.
