California's Drought

Post by B. W. »

I would like to folks to know that in the rest of the country, there seems to be a black out or very little mentioned concerning the true severity of the current 2015 California Drought. I have to go to the internet and search for any news on it.

To get an idea, please see this map - most of CA is under a D4 drought

http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/Home/Stat ... or.aspx?CA

D4 drought is explained here:

http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/AboutUs/C ... cheme.aspx

This is severe and as far as I can tell on the local Colorado news and national - very little is mentioned on this. Why is that?

Most of the food that used to come from CA is no more and most we get in Colorado is from Mexico or the environs south of there.

How you folks in CA holding up?

Here is an interesting video of a pilot flying over the snowpack in CA

This was in our Slovak news.
Californians are not to use water for their lawns, etc.

What snowpack?! That was no snowpack! Beautiful flying conditions, though...gotta get me some of that oxygen in a can.

We've also heard of California's water crisis.

If they had a social gospel in the days of the prodigal son, somebody would have given him a bed and a sandwich and he never would have gone home.

Yes, O2 in a can!

I miss flying in those small planes - liked the flight video and the snow pack there was way too low - looked like June levels in those Mts and this is only April...

I am not a pilot but like to fly in small aircraft when I can
