Appearance in Heaven
I am chatting with someone and the question of what people will look like in Heaven came up, and to be honest, it stumped me. I have never really given it much thought but now I have, well, i can`t stop thinking about it
Am I right that it states in the Bible that we all be given new physical bodies?
How old will we be?
Will we still have genders?
How will we appear to others that know/knew us?
I had always felt that life in Heaven would be more on a spiritual plane but it seems that Heaven is a real, physical place, and we will have physical bodies.
Will we age in Heaven?
I`d be interested in people`s thoughts.

Re: Appearance in Heaven
That is a tough one since we are not given (in the Bible) a view of what WE will look like once given our resurected bodies.
That said, Jesus was the first fruit of the resurrection and of HIS body is any indication then it will look like what we want it to, we will have the appearance of whatever age we choose to have and since it is a "spiritual" YET physical body, we will be able to do most wondrous things.
Jesus could, in His resurrected body, transport through walls, fly/defy gravity, eat, touch, feel, etc.
That said, He is fully human AND fully God and we will not be.
At the very least I think we will have the same abilities as angels do.
Remember, while our spirits go to heaven when we die, our resurrected bodies will be here on a "new earth" and God will be with Us, not Us with Him.
Not that we won't be able to go visit Heaven should we desire it.

Re: Appearance in Heaven
I like the idea of being able to fly.
I often dream of it and when I do, it`s so very vivid, I can really feel it. I wonder if it`s some kind of memory of being in the womb as it kinda feels like I`m floating, with no weight, or maybe a bit like scuba diving. In my dreams, to fly, I swim through the air, breaststroke if you`re interested and then to go lower I just stop "swimming". These dreams are so real I am convinced they mean something. I`ve had them as long as I can remember too.
Anyway.... Heaven.
So if I know someone who died, let`s say in their 20`s and they wanted to be in their 40`s would I still know who they are?
Will any of us recognise those that we love?
Will it matter?

Re: Appearance in Heaven
Ohhhhhhhhh!
Sorry, I`m not always quick on the uptake
It`s true though, they really are convincing. Funny thing is, I mentioned to a doctor once, who asked me if I`d ever tried it!?
I may be daft, but I`m not stupid.
Anyway can`t be LSD. I`ve had these dreams, like, forever.

Yes we will because we won't see with human eyes anymore but with spiritual eyes.Storyteller wrote:I like the idea of being able to fly.

Great answer Paul. I like it.
Dreaming of flying, cos we all yearn to fly free? Let our spirits soar?

I remember the first time I skydived, it was like coming home, like flying ( yeah I know I wasn't flying) was the most natural thing to do.

Awesome!
I learnt to scuba dive, that felt pretty close to flying.
So I'm not mad then?

Yes, the heaven TO COME will be both a spiritual and physical place, yet without corruption. We always tend to associate the physical with corruption, but it wasn't always so.
As for what will bodies LOOK like? Well, I guessing most of us will be really RIPPED! All the uglies and flab will be gone. And Rick, he will be ... TALL! Maybe taller than all of us. Yes, Rick, I know, I know, I'll then be ... SMART and not just a smart A.
