Mormons are not Christians. Their views on baptism are as irrelevant to Christianity as Hindus "purifying" themselves by bathing in the Ganges.

It doesn't matter what Mormons believe about baptism - or anything else! - because they are NOT Christians.

What does the Bible say about baptism? From memory, Jesus and the Ethiopian enuch are the only two water baptisms recorded in the Bible. Both events are simple affairs: someone expresses the desire to be baptised, and they go down into a body of water and are immersed into it. For Jesus' baptism, there were impromtu witnesses, for the Ethiopian's, there were no witnesses. No priests were present either, no documents were signed, no money was transacted, the families of either men were not invited, there were no godmothers or godfathers, and no gifts were received. There was no party afterwards.

Do you see the simplicity of the Bible's two baptisms?

The ceremony of baptism is nothing in and of itself. Water baptism has no power to save anyone. If I put a gun to a Hindu's head and dunk him into a pool of water in the name of Jesus, is the Hindu baptized? No! upon death, the Hindu still goes to hell. Water baptism is nothing more than the outward witness of a spiritual birth.

When we are born from above - spiritually born - (John 3:3) we receive a divine nature enabling us to do God's Will. This birth from above comes as a result of you understanding that you have sinned against God, that you have no hope of saving yourself, and so you turn to Christ and give Him control over your life. This is when you become a Christian. No water is necessary for this event.

What does the Bible say about this? Normally, I favor a grammatico-historical interpretation of the Bible but an allegorical-mystical interpretation of certain biblical passages would best answer your question. If you have a concordance, look up the word locust. All passages dealing with locusts pertain to French Canadians invading Florida, buying up land, changing its culture and leaving behind their detritus as they fly back up north for the summer.
