Re: what does it mean to be a Christian?
What you are saying Audie is that, when ES quoted you she implied you said something that you really didn't, correct?
You stated that westerns have to go to church, get saved and utter strange chants and ES quoted you implying that you wrote that westerns have to go to church TO get saved.
Correct?

Self sacrifice in the service of others.
Its an Asian cultures thing. If westerners have to go church, get saved and [/b]utter strange chants like
"sublime intention on the sacrificial alter of brotherly love", well,
better than not getting it at all.

You see Audie, you took one part of my post and used it as language against your entire post. That is why it's dishonest. This one quote of mine regarding "westerners" not having to go to church was in response to your saying they did, not all the rest of what you wrote.preconceived notion of yours, inherent with your undisciplined and incorrect learning
... there's nothing here putting you down. The truth is it is completely unChristian. You do not have to belong to a church to be saved. IMO it makes the ride a lot smoother and for other Christians, ... not so much. The point being, we can choose and your thoughts of "westerners have to go to church to get saved" is incorrect, an undisciplined and incorrect learning.... It's just the truth Audie, not a put down..
Quite honestly, the only put down is the post was yours when you needed to use the word "strange" in defining a passage of mine. Was that word used to make you feel better about the passage ? n Was it necessary to use it at all? It seemed a self serving notion to have to "put down" my thought in sentence by making it appear strange

Ok; you want to keep it going after you are busted for false quotation, instead of just accepting your error and moving on...
that whole thing you reposted is based on the fake quote being what I really said.
Now you are saying I am dishonest and got it wrong.
Just stop.

And the world goes round and round ... people suffer and die every minute or more ... and we here argue about what really?...
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good.

Re: what does it mean to be a Christian?
The situation seems to be me this:
Based on what Audie wrote, ES interpreted that as her meaning that westerns have to go to church to be saved.
Audie did not write that.
Of course under the context it is undestandable that ES read it that way.
It was an innocent mistake, one easily done since the first time I read that sentence too it seemed to imply that.
There was no malicious intent on quoting Audie that way BUT it was wrongly interpreted.

Apologies Audie. I really didn't get the gist of your post. I did think you thought a Christian had to go to church to be saved... wrongly. My mistaken misunderstanding caused a lot of anger and it was never needed had i just better read what you wrote.
Sorry, I will try better in the future.

Whatever mistake you made in no way excuses or justifies me getting so excitable and rude.EssentialSacrifice wrote:Apologies Audie. I really didn't get the gist of your post.
